Parkersburg man dies of natural causes after crash
POSTED: November 8, 2009
LEACHTOWN - A Parkersburg man died of natural causes Saturday evening after he pulled out of his parents' driveway, crossed both lanes of W.Va. 47 and went over an embankment, officials said.
Edward Knotts, 60, 17th Street, had gotten out of his car, a 1998 Chrysler Concours that was undamaged, and called his parents to tell them he had an accident, Wood County Deputy Sheriff Brett Pickens said. Knotts also assured neighbors there to help him that he was OK, Pickens said.
However, Knotts later stopped breathing and died at the scene, Pickens said.
Cause of death is from natural causes, probably a heart attack from the stress of the incident, Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair said.
The incident happened around 8 p.m., Pickens said.
