PARKERSBURG - Carrying signs denouncing proposed health care reform and accusing the media of lying, about 41 members of the Parkersburg T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) Party rallied in front of the federal building Thursday afternoon.

Sandy Staats of Parkersburg said the party members wanted to show their displeasure with the administration spending and let U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan, D-W.Va., know that if he wants their votes in the future they want him to vote no on the health care reform bill.

"We've had a chance to read the bill and we're waiting on the final 300 pages that are yet to be written," she said. "We're doing this for our children and their children's future and for our elderly parents and grandparents."

A similar sentiment was shared by Harold and Sherry Kerby of Parkersburg.

"We're here for our grandchildren's future," said Sherry Kerby.

"We'd like to be with those at the Capitol steps, but this will do as well,' Staats said

Many drivers passing them on Juliana Street blew their car horns in support for their effort.

"It's like we've had 10,000 here," said one protester.

Signs carried slogans such as "Silence is Acceptance," "Nobamma Care, Save Granny," "America Equals Freedom - Get Government Out of Healthcare" and "Bring Back Freedom."

In addition to the signs some carried American flags while there were two flags with the American Revolution slogan "Don't Tread on Me."

Staats said gathering at the federal building was to send a message to Mollohan about where they stand on issues facing Congress.

At times the protesters turned away from Juliana Street traffic to face the building when someone said they saw members of Mollohan's local staff watching from the building's windows.

glad to see you agree with the stupidity of the tea party signs, pot.

clarification: the 'or you' question was meant to ask why do you care so much? leave them alone and they will go away. get your kicks off of oprah or bill maher. that is where the truly funny stuff is

man, i see stupidity every day. what makes them different. or you? filtered eye? nice to meet you, kettle

pen, all in favor of protest. done a few myself. however, i never said there were a million people when there were less than 100k, nor did i say that 41 people felt like 10k people.

then there's the "save granny" and "bring back freedom" signs - even you, through your highly filtered eye, must see why these people get mocked. they should pay attention to details and facts, they might gain some traction and not look like the fringe group nut cases that they seem to be.

I note this quote from the report: ""It's like we've had 10,000 here," said one protester."

I guess that makes sense. 41 people feel like 10,000 is along the lines of 60,000 in DC being like 1.5 million. Maybe if the protestors would learn to count they would realize how silly and ridiculous their claims are.

realdeal, the clock didn't spin as fast because gwb racked up a lot of debt that was never placed into the budget. the wars were off budget until the last couple of months of his term when he put them in the budget to hand it off to bho.

Staats whats the point of voting? Did you not notice how McCain threw the election to Obama. Its a rigged game to make people feel like they have control. Just look at how blazingly fast Obama climbed the ladder. Someone or some group wants him where he is.

Also realdeal I strongly feel the Fed needs to go to. You might want to dig a little before you accuse someone of being something they aren't there sport.

realdeal That 3 billion was lost at one time. And what makes you think I am a liberal? You dont even know me. I think both parties have got to go. Staats you know what they say about the duck? If walks like one and talks like one...

What would Muslims do if a Christian took a shooting spree at Fort Hood? Would the mainstream media portray him as a victim?

Myth, ask Walt Auvil or Bev Lockhart, the Democratic and Republican chairs for Wood county. On my voters registration it says "non-partisan". I'll be glad to show it to you.

The debt clock under Bush wasn't spinning anywhere near as fast as it's spinning now. Myth is concerned about 3 billion lost in Iraq. What about the 5 Trillion lost by the FedRes under Obama's watch? Of course liberals don't concern themselves with facts, rhetoric is so much more meaningful. Enjoy your new liberal tax increase with Pelosicare.

Also I dont know if you know but the debt clock was spinning fast for most of Bush's term. 3 billion dollars where lost in Iraq. They do not know what came of it. You say you are neither Dem or republican. To that I say poppycock!

Staats whats the matter cat got the tongue? Staats I am an independent. I also would like to know where the Tea Party members have been. Where were you during Bushes term? I mean we get attacked and Bush never bothers to seal the borders wonder why? Funny you mention having a job under Bush. I lost mine to Mexico under Bush due to NAFTA. Why didn't Bush swoop down and save us that lost our jobs due to NAFTA. He had the power.

By the way, it's called the Federal Building, in case you hadn't heard, Mollohan's office is there.

To answer Melvin, there's a big difference between 1 trillion and 13 trillion. Of course you think bigger is better. Obamba buys banks, auto unions, and now health insurance, so that 13 trillion will become 20 trillion. But liberal fools will still try to blame Bush. Let's forget Bush being thrust into avenging the 3000 Americans murdered on 9-11-01, not to mention the damage to our financial system that occured when the WTC came crashing down. But you and your Obamanites aren't concerned with death since Pelosicare will murder millions more unborn babies. And we're hypocritical? I'm sure your mama's proud of you down in da hood...

tjm-"why do you guys keep bringing up bill clinton? he's not potus anymore....hint, his last name is bush."

I would guess it's because of libs bringing up Bush all the time. See..it's your fault.

k78, why do you guys keep bringing up bill clinton? he's not potus anymore. why can't you just move on? that's the right's advice when a lib tries to point out whose deficit we're trying to pay for - hint, his last name is bush.

Never heard anything from Sandy Staats when GW Bush ran the deficit from a surplus to over a trillion dollars. Why wasn't she protesting in front of the post office then. Republicans are so hypocritical.

reality-"it is estimated that 2% of the population would go with the public option"

Based on what? Due to need or desire to have the public option. It's already been made clear by the likes of Mollohan that if you have insurance already....you cannot drop it and get the public option.
