Linda Gay Metz

Linda Gay Metz, 66, of Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 23, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Paul Thomas and Ernestine Allen Farr.

Linda was a 1962 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from Union Insulating. She was married to her soul mate, Charles "Denny" Metz for 47 years. She was a member of the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Scott) Sinnett of Coolville, Ohio; her son, Craig (Gayla) Metz of Vienna; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Mark) Byrd of Parkersburg, Derrick (Natalie) Knapp of Walker, W.Va., Cody (Sarah) Metz of Avella, Pa., and Kendra, Cole, Cory and Kylie Metz of Vienna; three stepgrandchildren, Morgan and Travis Wright of Vienna and Erica (Josh) Gorrell of Delaware; three great-grandchildren, Braxton Byrd, Maddox Burwell and Hailey Metz; her brother, Larry Thomas Farr of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; her sister, Paula (Werner) Zoller of Parkersburg; nephews, Jon, Robert Thomas and David Farr; and nieces, Beverly Minear, Teena Musgrave and Stacey Varner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Denny" Metz, who has been waiting for her for seven months; her brother, Alan Ernest Farr; and her aunt, Garnet Reeder.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Rick Brown and Pastor Phil Prunty officiating. Interment will follow at Metz Chapel Cemetery in Ritchie County, where she will rejoin her husband. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
