Two more charged in burglary

One man died in incident

PARKERSBURG - Two more people were charged Friday with burglary in a weekend shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.

Shianne D. Winters, 20, of Washington, W.Va., and Shane Michael Dye, 21, 2105 Wolfe Run Road, Rockport, were arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court on Friday and were released on $20,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaints filed by the Wood County Sheriff's Department, Winters, Dye, Dan Dickel, Toney Dickel, Scott Gough and Chris Dickel went to the Mineral Manor Apartments in the early morning of Sept. 20 to confront Bryce E. Barnes.

According to the complaint, they went to the apartment and participated in the harassment that included yelling, pounding and kicking the door to Barnes' apartment, which they entered. A confrontation occurred near the bedroom, the complaint said.

"While inside the apartment, Chris Dickel was shot by Bryce Barnes," the complaint said.

Dickel, 19, died from the wounds.

Barnes was not alone in his apartment the night of the shooting. The complaint states Barnes and others at his apartment received threats prior to the incident.

No charges are pending against Barnes in the shooting, Lt. Bruce Riffle of the sheriff's department said.

Toney Dickel, Dan Dickel and Gough were charged on Thursday.

Winters, dressed in a sweatshirt and faded blue jeans, calmly sat in magistrate court awaiting arraignment. She told The Parkersburg News and Sentinel when she discovered her friends, Gough and Toney and Dan Dickel, had been charged on Thursday, she called the sheriff's office to see if there was a warrant for her arrest.

Winters, accompanied by her parents, made arrangements to surrender Friday morning.

She was arraigned by Magistrate Joyce Purkey, who initially set bond at $25,000. Winters' father inquired why the bond was so high compared to the three defendants charged on Thursday when Magistrate Donna Jackson set bond at $20,000 each for them.

Purkey said she was a different magistrate and if she had the other three defendants bond would have been set at $50,000 each. However, Purkey acquiesced and lowered Winters' bond to match the first three defendants.

Dye appeared before Magistrate Emily Bradley later in the day on Friday. He also turned himself in to the sheriff's department, officials said.

So......When is all this coming to a head? Has the Grand Jury met as of yet to decide if anyone is being indicted? Surely someone will pay for these immature actions on the part of those weak minded individuals responsible in the death of Mr. Dickel and the damage to the apartment. But as always, $$$$ talks.

Where did they(the thugs) get their beer at? If I were a betting person, I would say from a residence on Randolph Drive off of Core Road..Where a girl lives that has blonde hair...

(Big deal) Well yes it certianly is a big deal.If a bunch of young adults hadn't have been so gung ho to go over there and egg chris on, cuss, yell, hit, scream and ultimately break a hevy door down maby chriss would still be alive and there wouldn't be a woman out there mourning for her son who seemed to be a very decent fellow. Just got led on by a group wanting to handle things their way instead of the smart way., Hopefully lesson learned. As I said the blessed woman certianly has thoughts on the situation of these boys because she was begging them not to take any kind of revenge. Don't even begin to talk to me about drinking either. Work in an ER for as many years as I did and see if you don't think it's a big deal. Dead parents, children, senseless carnage! You be the one to stand there and give your speech on (Oh but all the colledge kids do it they just don't start at 21.)

Lets just say that the ADULTS bust in the door and one of those babies walked in front of the door as it was opening?!?! and what then?? who would be responsible? No, not the people who busted in?!? Get rational

BigDeal, for one, these people were capable of HOME INVASION. No one knows what else they were actually capable of, but busting in my home calls for serious repurcussions.

How can you assume that Bryce Barnes didnt feel THREATENED or scared for his life?

Kids don't need to be drinking and YES it impairs judgement.

What would that be, murder? Because I'm pretty sure they weren't the ones with a gun in this situation nor did they kill anyone. As far as drinking, they are 19 and 20 years old. No 21 year old out there just started drinking on their birthday. Besides, what does that have to do with anything? Who buys the beer for Bryce Barnes? Bryce Barnes can defend himself if he feels someone broke into his home to hurt him, true. Although I don't believe that's what he felt in this situation.

What these boys are capable of? .

(continuing previous comment) I believe it has been proven that the majority of the people would have done the same thing put in the same situation and probably would have taken more lives at that. I know I would be protecting my family if someone was threatening me and kicking my door down you had better have made your peace with the lord and savior! God bless the woman who raised Chris. She seems to be the only sane one in this situation and agreed I think she knows what these boys are capable of and thats why she's begging them not to take revenge.

These so called friends might as well have pulled the trigger themselves. My daughter worked with one of the so called friends and she was commenting on how they were gonna take this guy down. Chris was egged on to do this by his gangsta wannabe friends. If you look on myspace you can see what all these boys are about. Drinking and getting high. Beside their names (BPHS) Beer Pong House of Scholarships) Not the kind of scholarship I'd want my son to get. Vanessa keeps talking about age limits for a gun, well who's buying all this beer for these underage boys to be drinking. It has the potential to kill just like a gun. Liquid courage takes you down the wrong path at this age. I really hope the shooter is under police protection at this time. You all may not like it but he had every right to defend himself and yes defending can sometimes lead to death. I believe it has been proven that the majority of the people would have done the same thing put in the same situation and probably woul

I am sick and tired of people thinking they can do what they want, and get by with it. This town is becoming infested with lazy, good for nothing, dope dealing, non working people who thieve, perform criminal acts, burglarize, vandalize, terrorize and basically wreak havoc on others.

It's going to come to a point where folks are going to be carrying side arms for protection, I will protect me and mine and refuse to be bullied by anyone.

If people can't work their differences out in a civilized manner, this is what it's going to boil down to.

I have read *most* of the replies on this thread and I will tell you one thing, none of the kids who illegally entered the shooters home could be accused of having any scruples or common sense, and Vanessa is making a big butt of herself.

I know you are upset Vanessa, but WE didn't shoot the brother and WE are just stating OUR own opinions.

If these folks had a beef, they should have stayed home, stayed alive and stayed out of jail.

If someone was talking trash to me, I don't care what they SAY they are gonna do, so long as they don't come over TRYING to do it.

I have a right to defend my home, and if there was indeed a 2 year old in there, how are these kids gonna bust up in someones home with a kid there? That is absolute craziness.

Also, I dont think the shooter decided whom he was going to put a cap in, I think he just shot blindly and it hit that person, when people are busting in, it is NOT IN SLOW MOTION, it doesn't matter the order in which they came in, stuff ha

Tupacforreal....No offense taken..you're right with what you're saying about mishandling things...they sure didn't think about the consequences and acted irresponsibly...and sorry I can't dance....to crippled up to dance.

And why would I hang my head...I didn't do anything and have nothing to regret. Also, I am not trying to be judge and jury on here...If the courts think they need punished, then they will serve their time and hope they learn a lesson from it.

BTW....guess you have never in your life been in trouble or had to go to your parents for help with anything....lucky you...you must live a charmed life and must be also perfect.

As for me, I would have wanted my parents in my corner anytime I had a problem. It's human nature. Even Christians, when they get in trouble, call out to God, "Please God, if you just help me, I will never do this again"....like I said....it's human nature.

K26101....my boys???...they aren't my boys...I don't even know any of these boys...in fact. I never heard of them before...didn't know anyone on the other side either...the only one I know is Shianne....and I don't really know her that well...I have just known her family all my life.

And you have never seen me defending what these boys did. And... Mr. Barnes had a right to defend himself...I don't approve of the way this was handled and believe that if there was someone needing rescued in the apartment...that the law should have been contacted. The only thing I am trying to do is make some of you realize how out of control these posts are becoming....and you taunting Shianne with your comment about the bracelets was out of line.

Chanes are, since she turned herself in, she probably wasn't even cuffed. Did you see her in cuffs?

Sunny... I am sur eyour boys thought it was funny when they were bashing in the door.. wasnt so funny when someone was shot eh? Now that its done and over.. people are scared they are going to be brought up on more charges. They should be.

They only cry to their mommy and daddy when they are in trouble.. but making trouble they are all about that.. cant take the heat for your crime.. dont do it!

The only ones causing this community any pain are the wanna be thugs trying to be heros..but are really zeros.

Dont hang your hang low now.. whos fault i it that they are in this mess?

tupacforreal....so what gang or side are you with...since you posted you must be one of us losers. I'm not on either side...but just getting tired of the speculation from a bunch of no it all's that think their way is the only way to handle this. I wouldn't want any one of them to be my judge and jury...because they think with their emotions...not their head. I still say let the law handle this and let's accept what the law has to say. Of course after it is all said and done....everyone will then be posting their discontent with how the court handled it....can't please everyone, I guess.

Man, what a bunch of losers - on both sides! It's the D-gang vs. the Hillbilly's of Pettyville. They're all*******river rats fightin' over who gets the latest girl to swing around a pole. I say let 'em have at it until they're all gone.

And if it will add to your glory and delight...the whole family and all her friends are crying like babies. And if you aren't sad about this...you have no heart.
