Chad E. Lewis

Chad E. Lewis, 39, of Little Hocking, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 14, 2009, at the Willows Center following a battle with cancer.

He was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., on March 9, 1970, a son of the late Sharon Lea Goodwill Lewis and Joe Lewis of Whipple, Ohio.

He was a 1988 graduate of Community Christian School in Stuart, Fla., and a 1993 graduate of Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Ind., with his degree in secondary education. He moved to Little Hocking in 1994 and was a member of Carpenters Local Union 356 of Marietta. Chad was considered a master carpenter.

Chad was an active member of Landmark Baptist Church, where he taught the third grade boy's Sunday School Class, assisted with the youth and other many activities around the church.

In addition to his father, Joe Lewis and his wife, Carol, Chad is survived by his wife of 17 years, Tarri Carpenter Lewis; his two children, Emily Grace and Nathan Chad Lewis; four brothers, Chris Lewis and wife, Faith, of Missouri, Craig Lewis and wife, Jodi, of Newport, Ohio, Clifton Lewis of Marietta and Curtis Lewis of Newport; sister, Cara Strickler and husband, Jason, of Newport; father and mother-in-law, Larry and Linda Carpenter of Parkersburg; brother-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Carpenter and wife, Danielle, of Parkersburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Sharon Lea, Chad was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Hamilton Lewis.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Landmark Baptist Church of Parkersburg with Pastor Mike Lamb officiating. Burial will be at the Key's Cemetery in Doddridge County, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Landmark Baptist Church, 310 Eighth Ave., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
