PADEN CITY -A 19-year-old Tyler County man was arrested Wednesday, charged with malicious wounding after stabbing a 17-year-old boy.
According to the Paden City detachment of the West Virginia State Police, Sabastian Rosenlieb of Sistersville was arrested by Trooper S.R. Curran after allegedly attacking a 17-year-old victim in an altercation over a female.
Curran and members of the Tyler County Sheriff's department were dispatched to West Virginia 18, near Middlebourne, responding to reports of an assault. When law enforcement officials arrived at the scene, around 6:30 p.m., Curran located a 17-year-old boy with multiple stabs "of a significant nature" to his arms and body.
The victim was treated by Middlebourne Emergency Medical Services at the scene and then taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown by helicopter.
Curran conducted an investigation into the incident and determined the victim had been traveling on W.Va. 18 when Rosenlieb allegedly forced the victim off the road with his vehicle.
Rosenlieb, who is listed as 5-foot-7, 134 pounds, allegedly attacked the victim, stabbing him multiple times.
He reportedly discarded the weapon into a nearby creek.
According to the release, witnesses to the altercation stopped the suspect from leaving the scene until police arrived.
Rosenlieb was charged with malicious wounding. He was transported to the North Central Regional Jail where he is being held on $100,000.
