Jail escapee captured in Jackson County
RIPLEY - After nearly three days on the run, a Racine, Ohio, man who escaped from Meigs County Jail Sunday was captured by police Tuesday afternoon in Jackson County.
Timothy Wickersham, 29, escaped from the county jail with James Lee Garnes, 39, and Buford Smallwood, 22, between 2:49 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday through a fire door, officials said.
Wickersham was captured by West Virginia State Police in a house in Ripley around 3 p.m. Tuesday, said Meigs County officials. He was transferred to the South Central Regional Jail in Charleston Tuesday evening.
Garnes turned himself in to authorities a few hours after the escape, and Smallwood was found in a Middleport residence Sunday evening. All three men were in custody for non-violent felony charges.
