MIAMI, Fla.-Former-West Virginia University starting quarterback Patrick White has agreed to a four-year deal with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League.
Several sources reported that the two-time Big East Offensive Player of the Year signed a deal worth approximately $4.5 million. A bit more that half of that total is guaranteed, meaning that White-expected to fill the Dolphins' need in their Wildcat formation-is locked in to receive $2.4 million over the next two years.
Miami began pre-season camp on Saturday with physicals and team meetings. The Dolphins were slated to begin their first on-field activities on Sunday.
White concluded his five-year stay in Morgantown-which included a redshirt freshman season-as the old gold and blue's (and Big East's) career rushing leader among quarterbacks with 4,480 yards and 47 touchdowns. The Alabama-native also completed 507-of-783 attempts for 6,049 yards and 56 more scores while tossing only 23 interceptions.
The four-year starter, who led WVU to four consecutive bowl victories, was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in both the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and Meineke Car Care Bowl.
