Richard L. Rader I
Richard Lee "Dick" Rader I passed away to be with the Lord on June 27, 2009, at his home in Parkersburg at the age of 63.
He was born Nov. 30, 1945, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Daniel W. Rader and the late Alma J. Bostic York. He attended Parkersburg High School, was a U.S. Navy veteran and attended the Boaz Baptist Church. He owned and operated his own business, The Day By Night Janitorial and Lawn Service.
Dick was a supportive Parkersburg High School fan throughout the years and loved watching PHS football and baseball. He was an active member of the American Legion of Parkersburg and was a minister. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife, Linda Midcap Rader; two sons, Richard L. II (Carol) Rader of Vienna and Randall A. Rader of Parkersburg; two daughters, Missy D. Rader Davis (Brian) of Belpre and Rebecca A. Rader Gibson (Alonzo) of Walker; one stepson, Greg Midcap (Lisa) of Vienna; eight grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Brittany, Chelsie, Tyee, Raygan, Lindsey and Megan; six brothers and sisters, James Miller of Belpre, Jane Sparks of Florida, Okey Rader of Parkersburg, Garren Rader of Florida, Mary Katherine Cowan of Harrisville and Eric Rader of Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Rader; and a sister, Patsy Rader.
Dick will be deeply missed by all who were acquainted with him.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Bob Alfred officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military rites provided by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
