Brenda J. Weaver
Brenda Joyce Shelton Weaver, 56, of Parkersburg, passed away May 5, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1952, a daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Peggy Elswick Shelton.
Brenda graduated from Martinsburg High School. Following high school, Brenda relocated to the Parkersburg area where several of her relatives resided, including her Aunt Shirley and her Uncle Scholl. She received her registered nurse degree from West Virginia University at Parkersburg. She started her nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in pediatrics and most recently was Director of Nursing at ResCare in Parkersburg. She was Director of Nursing at Camp Echo, was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Parkersburg and was a member of the Blennerhassett Church of Nazarene. Brenda loved to play bingo, traveling in her and her husband's RV and loved her four Shihtzu dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Samuel I. Weaver; one daughter, Kimberly Roucke and her husband, Aaron; one son, Samuel L. Weaver "Little Sam"; one brother, Larry H. Shelton and his wife, Terry, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Trace, Trenton and Georgia.
Brenda was proud to be the niece of Baseball Legend, Lou Burdette, who was a former Big League Pitcher with the Milwaukee Braves, who pitched in the 1957 World Series.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Robert Kniley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
