Joseph D. "Joe" Greathouse, 69, of Morriston, Fla., formerly of the Parkersburg area, passed away at his home in Florida on Thursday morning, April 2, 2009.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Wade Jennings and Orza Lee Greathouse.

Joe was of the Baptist faith, had served as a police officer with the Parkersburg Police Department, had worked as a contractor in the Parkersburg area and retired from Skyline Mobile Homes in Florida.

Surviving is his wife, Toni Cooper Greathouse; sons, Joseph David Greathouse of Columbus, Ohio, and Wade Jennings Greathouse of Morriston; daughters, Jodi Saunier of Columbus, Dede Burnett of Mt. Olivet, Ky., and Tina Marie Richmond of Morriston; daughters-in-law, Angelique Greathouse of Morriston and Ina "Jeannie" Archer of Ocala, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Greathouse and his wife, Beryl Ann, of Mineral Wells; a sister, Ella Mae Caplinger and her husband, Pastor Jerry Caplinger, of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Archer.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastors Jerry Caplinger and Lloyd Winans officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
