William A. “Alex” Joy
William Alexander Joy, 15, beloved son of William and Pamela Joy of Belpre, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 15, 2008.
Alex was born on a warm Sunday afternoon on June 6, 1993. Alex was a handsome blonde haired blue eyed boy who had a magnetic smile that brought joy to all. Alex truly loved being on the river with his dad. He was never without a smile when he was boating, jet skiing or boogy boarding. He also liked dirt bikes and fishing. Alex was eager to fix anything. He loved to take things apart and put them back together. Alex loved his mom's popcorn with lots of butter. Alex was like most teenage boys, wanting to look macho, but was a big softy inside. He had many friends, young and old, and loved hanging out with them. He loved his dogs, Chance and Lexi.
Alex leaves behind his dad and mom, Bill and Pam (Kelley) Joy of Belpre; and his paternal grandmother, Zelma Joy, and maternal grandparents, Dave and Carol Brown, all of Belpre. Alex looked up to his big brothers, Matthew (Amber) Rhodes and PFC Greg (Nicole) Joy; one uncle, Joe Joy of Belpre; five aunts, Brenda Walker, Carol Crawford, Sara Joy, Melissa (Dave) Nestor and his Aunt "B" Becky (Herman) Dotson. Alex had several cousins, David and Jeremy Wiggers, Serena Anthony, Joseph Carter, Duece Joy and Alexa Eric and Brian Crawford, and was particularly close to his cousin Abbey and Eric Dotson. Alex had one nephew Evan Rhodes, and many friends, who he also loved very much.
Alex was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Dave Reed and his maternal grandfather Pat Kelley.
Alex was loved by many. He was a special boy, full of life, even though it had only just begun. Alex's passing has left an indescribable void in the lives of his family and friends that will never be filled. Many wonder why or how such a beautiful life was cut so short. We all should remember that as teenagers we thought we were invincible. Let us not judge one another, but remember when we were trying to find ourselves between a boy and a man.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Belpre Middle School Gymnasium with Pastor Kent Lowther officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Belpre. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre.
Memorial contributions may be to Peoples Bank, Belpre, in Memory of Alex Joy.
