College students receive scholarship

PARKERSBURG - Twelve students have been awarded scholarships through the Simonton Windows Scholarship Fund, with several recipients from the Mid-Ohio Valley.
The local 2008-09 recipients are:
- Eric Bever of Pennsboro. Bever is a junior at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
- Cassandra Bunner of Pennsboro. Bunner is a freshman at West Virginia Weslyan College.
- Kristy Ellenberger of Vienna. Ellenberger is a junior at the University at North Carolina at Greensboro.
- Madeleine Etter of Marietta. Etter is a junior at Columbus College of Art and Design
- Katherine Paquette of Waverly. Paquette is a junior at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
- Samantha Spencer of Harrisville. Spencer will attend Fairmont State University this fall.
The scholarship amounts were not included in the announcement this week.
The scholarships are renewable throughout the students' undergraduate work as long as they maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average and show financial need.
The scholarship is based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership abilities and extracurricular activities.
