Fourth-graders receive academic honors

These fourth-graders at Beverly-Center Elementary School were honored at the school's end-of-the-year awards assembly for achieving a yearly average of 'A' in the following academic subjects:

Reading - Derek Bohl, Alexis Enochs, Calieigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, and Anthony Winters; Math - Derek Bohl, Caleigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Garrin Knotts, Trey Mincks and Taylor Pennock; Spelling - Derek Bohl, Alexis Enochs, Cristal Espinoza, Caleigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Isaac Klinger, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, Taylor Pennock, Zale Reed, Jordan Schilling, and Jeff Thieman; Writing - Caleigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Isaac Klinger, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, and Jordan Schilling; Grammar - Derek Bohl, Cristal Espinoza, Caleigh Fryman, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, and Taylor Pennock, Science - Derek Bohl, Alexis Enochs, Caleigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, Taylor Pennock, Jordan Schilling, and and Jeff Thieman.

Special reading awards were presented for Accelerated Reader and various reading activities. Top Points scored for Accelerated Reader were Derek Bohl and Abbi Medina. The awards for most Accelerated Reader Books read went to Austin Duskey and Jackie Pawloski. Award winners for the Reading Book Activity were Ana Beebe, Derek Bohl, Alexis Enochs, Cristal Espinoza, Caleigh Fryman, Megan Hesson, Lindsay Joy, Isaac Klinger, Garrin Knotts, Abbi Medina, Trey Mincks, Taylor Pennock, Jeff Thieman, and Anthony Winters.

Fourth-grade teachers at Beverly-Center are Lois Archer and Barbara Jahn.

Reading Program Drawing To A Close

The "Catch the Reading Bug" summer reading program at the Beverly Public Library is coming to a close. Completed summer reading program sheets for each reading level are due by Saturday, July 19. Children in grrades 1-5 must read at least five books and complete six activities and teens need to read at least 10 hours. Goodie bags for members of the Read-to-Me Club and the Summer Reading club that have completed their reading requirements may be picked up at the library July 23-31. Readers who have completed the reading requirements are invited to the pool party July 31, 7 p.m. at the Beverly Pool. Froggy 99 will be there to provide entertainment and Jukebox Pizza will provide refreshments.

What's on tap this week as the summer reading program wraps up? For children ages 2-6, "The Very Quiet Cricket" will be presented at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16. A snack, short film, and craft will follow. These children must be accompanied by an adult that needs to remain with the child throughout the story time. Family Movie Night wraps up July 15 at 6 p.m. with the showing at "Ant Bully". Teens are invited to "Jazz Up Shirts" Monday, July 14, at 6 p.m. and to Wii Sport on Friday, July 18.
