W. Lewis Mahaney
W. Lewis Mahaney, 75, of Pennsboro, W.Va., departed this life on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Parkersburg following an extended illness.
Mr. Mahaney was born on Aug. 22, 1932, at Cairo, W.Va., a son of the late Guy and Eva B. Scott Mahaney. He was a graduate of the former Harrisville High School with the class of 1951, was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the forces of occupation of Germany and was a member of the American Legion at Pennsboro. He was retired after 37 years of service with Union Carbide as a maintenance coordinator and served on the Ritchie County Board of Education for 30 years and 20 years as its president. he was a life member of the Pennsboro P.T.A., a member of the Harmony Lodge 59, A.F. & A.M. and the Pennsboro United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary E. “Peggy” Mahaney; sons, Timothy “Tim” Mahaney of Pennsboro, William “Woody” Mahaney of Tokyo, Japan, and Scott Lewis Mahaney of Norman, Okla.; brothers, Jesse and Adrain Mahaney, both of Highland, W.Va., Floyd Mahaney of Harrisville and Wesley Mahaney of Fortson, Ga.; sisters, Wilma Wilson of Harrisville and Evelyn Northcraft of Ellenboro, W.Va.; and a grandson, Jeff Mahaney.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mahaney was preceded in death by a brother, James R. “Pete” Mahaney; and a sister, Louise Lane.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with interment in the Mt. Harmony Masonic Cemetery at Pennsboro. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
