Pearl M. Kessinger

Pearl Mae Carmichael Winter Kessinger, 91, departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 18, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late Albert Jenkins Carmichael and Grace Hinzman Carmichael.

She worked at the O’Ames shovel plant, the American Viscose during World War II . She retired from the dietary department at St. Joseph’s Hospital with 10 years of service. After retirement, she worked as a cook at Arlington Nursing Home and was a caregiver for her mother who died in 1990. She also worked at the Jackson County Library and with the Association of Retarded Citizens of Jackson County until finally retiring after 70 years of work.

She is survived by six children, Owen O. Winter Sr. (Thelma) of Burning Springs, W.Va., Paul E. Winter of Hogansville, Ga., Christopher Winter of the home, Richard Winter (Ernestine) of Coolville, Ohio, E. Sue Dennis of Elizabeth, W.Va., and Lydia Hayes and husband, Allan, of Charleston, W.Va.; one brother, Joe (Wanda) Carmichael of Parkersburg; a former sister-in-law that Pearl was close to, Jean Wade of Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pearl is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Carmichael, Ruth Carmichael and Phyllis Carmichael. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends, family, cousins and others. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Owens O. Winter and Herbert Kessinger; six brothers, Charles, Bob, Dale, Fred, Ralph and Glen Carmichael; four sisters, Hazel Carmichael, Delma Wilcox, Maxine Emerick and Margaret Dooley; two children, Billy and Suzette; a grandson, Michael; and great-granddaughter, Danielle Williams.

She attended the Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene. She was cremated per her request. There will be a memorial service at a later date to be announced that will be held at the Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene.

The Busch-Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elizabeth are in charge of arrangements.
