PARKERSBURG — A single-car accident resulted in one woman being transported to Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital because of minor injuries.
About noon Friday, Cristy Wyatt, 67, of Parkersburg, was apparently driving east on W.Va. 47 when she lost control of her vehicle, said Wood County Deputy Sheriff S.L. Modesitt. After swerving several times, the vehicle landed on the passenger’s side facing west.
“Her dog was thrown from the vehicle,” Modesitt said.
The Humane Society of Parkersburg took the dog to a veterinarian. Modesitt said the dog appeared to be dazed by the accident but unhurt.
The road was one lane of traffic for about 45 minutes while Wyatt was pulled from the vehicle by East Wood volunteer firefighters and CCMH paramedics.
“It’s a good thing she was a little woman,” said East Wood Assistant Fire Chief Cliff Buckley. It was possible to lift her from the driver’s door without cutting.
“When I got here she was standing up in the car. She wasn’t complaining of any serious injuries,” he said.
St. Joseph’s paramedic/East Wood Lt. Jake Carr was driving past the scene when it was reported. He said he climbed into the car to check Wyatt’s vital signs, then remained in the car to help lift her out from the bottom.
“We had to have someone in the car to help stabilize her,” he said.
