PARKERSBURG Parkersburg Homecoming has added a bit of nostalgia to its lineup with Eddie Money as the Sunday headliner.
Money will take the stage at 8 p.m. Aug. 17, said Homecoming President Jenni Reed.
"We've done country for the last several years and we decided we wanted to get away from that," Reed said. "Having Eddie Money here does that really well."
Money is best known for songs "Baby Hold On" and "Maybe I'm a Fool" in the late 1970s and hits "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Walk on Water" from the 1980s.
"We're extremely excited to have (Money) here," Reed said.
An opening act for Money is unknown, but he will be joining country music up-and-comer James Otto on the weekend entertainment menu.
Otto, who has a No. 1 single with "Just Got Started Lovin' You" will be the Friday night headliner, Reed announced last week.
Reed said Homecoming, which runs from Aug. 15 - 17, is known for hosting bands and singers before they hit it big.
Reed said the inclusion of Money instead of a country music act is one of several changes made to this yearás Homecoming.
âWeáre trying to liven things up by doing different things,ã Reed said.
Those items include a Longaberger Basket fund-raising event and a raffle for a $2,500 gas card.
"We're really trying to expand what we're doing to include the entire community," Reed said. "We're trying to keep things fresh."
