Camella McCord
Camella Young McCord, 56, of Vienna died Monday, March 24, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Weston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Floyd Patton and Betty (John) Young.
Mrs. McCord graduated from Fairmont State College and taught school for 20 years in Lewis, Upshur and Wood County Schools. She served on the Board of Directors of The Parkersburg Day Nursery, attended Wayside United Methodist Church and volunteered for the Wood County Public School System. She was the vice president of the Red Wing Connection. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading and was an avid Mountaineer fan.
She is survived by her husband, Steve McCord of Vienna; daughter, Katherine McCord of Mineral Wells; son, Payton Young McCord of Morgantown, W.Va.; two sisters, Sally Young Waddell of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Suzanne Hyre and her husband, Richard, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, G.O and Marie Young of Overland Park, Kan.; and six nieces and nephews, Bo Waddell, Beth Waddell Lamb, Lex Hyre, Aaron Hyre, John Young II and Sarah Young.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Patton Young, who was one of the Marshall University football players killed in the plane crash on Nov. 14, 1970.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wayside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Richards officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. today at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
