Dolores M. Clegg

Dolores Mae (Anderson) Clegg, 76, of Parkersburg, passed away March 20, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Liverpool (Jackson County), W.Va., a daughter of the late Henry Clay and Esther Mae (Rader) Anderson. She graduated from Parkersburg High School and married Earl E. Clegg on July 2, 1948 and remained his devoted wife for nearly 60 years. She was highly skilled in the domestic arts, a dedicated gardener and an avid seashell collector. She was devoted to her family and faith and was a member of the Parkersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church for 24 years, where she served in many capacities including head deaconess and as a teacher in the children’s department utilizing her special gifts and love for working with children.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Emerson Clegg; and four children and their spouses, Beverly and Dr. Robert LaRocque of Little Rock, Ark., John E. and Dolores J. (Shorty) Clegg of Parkersburg, Russell D. and Kathy Clegg of Mineral Wells and Clifford A. and Terry Clegg of Basye, Va. Her memory will be cherished by her five grandchildren, Michele Railey, Vanessa Lathrop, Laurie and Jon LaRocque and Katy Clegg; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, John, Alex, William and Miah. She is also survived by two brothers, Carroll F. Anderson of Richfield, Ohio, and Theodore J. Anderson of Darlington, S.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles M. Anderson, William J. Anderson and Davis L. Anderson; and one sister, Susan L. Anderson.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
