SUTTON — Braxton County sophomore Trey Chapman scored a career-high 37 points as the Eagles cruised past South Harrison 77-50 on Wednesday night.
“South Harrison didn’t have an answer for (Chapman),” Braxton assistant coach Chris Haney said. “He ran the floor real well and the other kids were real patient getting the ball into him.”
Braxton County (3-0) outscored South Harrison 19-8 in the first quarter then extended the lead to 36-17 by intermission.
Travis Gawthrop knocked down three 3-pointers and led South Harrison with 17 points.
Tyler Consolidated 53
KIDWELL — Ryan Summers dropped in a game-high 26 points Wednesday night, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Magnolia rolled past rival Tyler Consolidated, 84-53.
The Blue Eagles only led 15-12 after one, but outscored TCHS (0-4) 50-18 in the middle two quarters.
Colt Street’s 25-point effort led Magnolia, which also received double figure scoring efforts from Ben Bridgeman (14), Andrew Robinson (11), Scott Berry (10) and Jared Blatt (10).
Jacob Lohri chipped in 15 markers in the setback while teammate Zach Perkey grabbed 10 rebounds.
Charleston Catholic 45, Williamstown 36
CHARLESTON — Charleston Catholic exploded for a 21-7 third-quarter posting Wednesday evening as the Irish used a balanced attack to knock Williamstown from the ranks of the unbeaten, 45-36.
Williamstown (3-1) had only three players score points in the setback. Matt Kiger had a game-high 18 and teammate Daniel Spurgeon netted 16.
Charleston Catholic was led by Andrew Cassis’ 10 counters.
