General Description
Chartered in 1958 by members of the churches of Christ, Ohio Valley University is a private, independent, regional, faith-proclaiming, liberal arts university. Classes officially began in 1960. OVU is annually recognized as one of the nation's best comprehensive baccalaureate universities in U.S.News and World Report's America's Best Colleges Guide.

Location
OVU is located in beautiful Vienna, West Virginia, on the Ohio River in the historic Mid-Ohio Valley, a community of approximately 80,000.

Campus Facilities/Location
266 wooded acres at one of the highest points in Wood County, West Virginia. The main campus complex features one entrance/exit to the main buildings, providing added security. Facilities throughout the main and south campuses feature wireless Internet access, learning centers, computer labs, student housing, offices, smart classrooms, library, student center, university bookstore, athletic and health/fitness center, two gymnasiums, a theatre, student commons, chapel, dining hall and more.

Academic Degree Programs
Baccalaureate degree programs are offered in Accounting, Bible, Bible & Ministry, Biology, Business Administration, Elementary Education, English, History, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Interdisciplinary Studies (Communications/Mass Media, Criminal Justice, Interdisciplinary Studies, Journalism, Math, Music, Spanish, Specialized Studies, Pre-Law), Management, Marketing, Organizational Management, Psychology (Pre-Professional, Christian Counseling, Human Services), Secondary Education (English, Math, Physical Education, Social Studies, Science, Wellness), Sports Management, Vocational Ministry*, Vocational Missions*, and Wellness.

An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Nursing is offered through a special collaborative arrangement with West Virginia University Parkersburg.

Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees are also offered in the areas of Pre-Professional, Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental.

Special certifications and degree endorsements in the areas of special education, alternate dispute resolution, business leadership, non-profit organization management and practical accounting are also offered.

Study Abroad Opportunities
Ohio Valley University offers accredited study abroad programs in London, England, and Florence, Italy, where students can gain valuable international experiences and develop global literacy while earning accelerated credit hours.

Enrollment
501 students come from 27 states and 12 nations.

Faculty
The student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1. The average class size is 20 students.

Tuition & Fees
2012-13 tuition for full-time students taking 12 credit hours is $12,863; general fees are $756 per semester. Ninety-five percent of students receive some sort of financial aid and approximately $1 million in institutional aid is awarded annually.

Scholarships
Available from $300 to full tuition. Honors scholarships are awarded based on academic credentials at the time of admission.

Athletic Program
OVU is a proud member of the NCAA Division II. Men compete in intercollegiate baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, golf, and club lacrosse. Women compete in intercollegiate basketball, cross country, golf, softball, soccer and volleyball. Ohio Valley University is a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and also offers an extensive intramural athletic program.
