PLAINWELL, Mich. (AP) — Police in Dayton, Ohio, say a salesman from southwestern Michigan who was known to carry lots of cash was shot to death during a home invasion and robbery at a friend's house.
MLive.com (http://bit.ly/1alrtgV ) identifies the victim as 42-year-old Allen Lindeman of Plainwell, about 12 miles north of Kalamazoo.
Homicide Sgt. Rick Blommel says Lindeman was killed Saturday night. He says the Michigan man likely caught the attention of young local thieves who saw him with cash.
Blommel says two men knocked on the door, then forced their way inside when one of the residents answered and shot Lindeman several times.
The investigator says Lindeman often stayed with friends while on the road and was known to carry large sums of cash, perhaps from the equipment sales transactions he completed.
