Again, council bows down to the mayor. This position should have been posted and interviews conducted. This is why we do not get the best talent. We have the good old boys method of advancement.

Well said MissMM. Newell's excuse for the early appointment seems lame and questionable. Will it really take someone 3 montths to be trained for this position?

From the comments I have read, none have been have been "angry." Truth is when someone decides a dissenting viewpoint ... the other side is generally where the anger resides. When taxpayer dollars are at work those folks deserve the right to express their opinion and to hold elected officials accountable for spending their tax dollars in the most efficient and thrifty manner which does the greatest amount of good for all the citizens of our community.

The challenge with the News and Sentinel blogs are that they are often spewed by anonymous folks who tend to express opinions without much knowledge and seem to be more interested in grinding an axe than thoughtfully opposed to anything. I personally have worked with both Ann and Rickie almost every day for the last several years and I find them to be both competent and dedicated. While I’m not of their political persuasion (nor the Mayor’s, for that matter), I find them to be well-reasoned and committed to making Parkersburg a better place. If you disagree I would be interested in hearing specific issues where you have different and better solutions. Or should I assume you’re comments here are somewhat like the graffiti we have been fighting in our City parks? If you want to thoughtfully discuss any pertinent community issues feel free to call me or stop by the Blennerhassett Hotel. Ask for me, Cecil Childress. BTW, congratulations to both Ann and Rickie.

CecilC. If this gentleman was the best for the job then he would have won it via the interview process. I am not stating he can not do the job. Only stating this should have been posted and interviews conducted.

Cecil you are missing the point on the issue at hand. I feel I am qualified for this position and would have liked to had an opportunity to interview for the position. I am sure there are other qualified job seekers that would feel the same way I do. The "good ole boy's club" strikes again.

Troll, all you had to do was put in the name of any person and the city or state they live in and you will know. The two officers are my classmates of 1984 from PHS, I played football with both of them. ( more with the One then the other) do there You never talked to either of them because they do know me very well. Why is it that you like so much drama? These are the same people that you say you help in dire times!

See that " Accounts deleted" is at it again; with that being said, it seems that the ONLY poster here who has anything to lose/gain is Cecil Childress. Wonder how the predominant downtown office plan is going so far?
