Newell has always been a big arts guy. His tacky phony brick walkways downtown are peeling again. They represent a community that is decaying under his so called leadership.

This is the "Businessman" who is trying to start the concert park thing, looks like the mayor and him is becoming good buddies, he may get his way, even with the beer sales at that park with the kids playing at the skate park just a few feet away

Why does everything have to turn political, it was a nice art show in a great environment. Can't people just relax and enjoy themselves for a change?

Why do people with little or mo money try to start a business on city property which beer sales seem to be a big part of? There are many questions one could ask. I just hope our city council does a lot of research on this concert park thing and the people bringing it before them.Don't let our mayor push this through like everything else. We need a council to stand up for the people of Parkersburg.

Well said "JMO26184" but that's not going to happen, not when it comes to Parkersburg! You have one or two people with multiple user names that always goes negative. And if you read these comments long enough, it doesn't take long to figure out who they are.

Go Mart is not built on CITY PROPERTY, so there is a difference, and you don't drive down a small narrow road past a place built for kids to get to a place for adults to drink and enjoy a concert, not the place for this kind of thing

It sounds like people have personal reasons either for or against this project.

However, the committee has yet to look into the financial stability of the person who wants to oversee such a major project.

Have they looked into his past and present business growth?

Building in that region may clean it up but if the management isn't sound, then the city will have another unkept property on its hands.

The idea is good but since it is on private land, there are many factors that need to be considered.

I think if the council looks into the personal finances of the person who wants to oversee such a project there may be some concern there, is this "businessman" or "developer" of which I don't think is either, able to run such a business, all I can say is good luck, don't take my word for it, there are records at the court house on everyone. Easy to find

It always cracks me up that some city complainers apparently couldn't pass basic English in middle school.

The city could make even more money if they set up a DUI checkpoint at certain spots for those leaving the concert park drunk.

Or they could be held liable in a lawsuit if a person got past the DUI checkpoint and had an accident.

I am sure this so called "businessman" will have the minimum amount of insurance, so in that case maybe you go after the landowner, and the city will have enough insurance, I sure hope our council stops this idea, let this business pay for ground like all other business's, not get something for nothing

If something happens on city property, then the CITY will be liable.

City complainer may want to go to the next board meeting with your 'fine businessman', since you seem to know so much about the project.

Maybe this "businessman" should partner up with the one in Marietta wanting to build a big resort, sounds like both have no money and looking to get rich on someone else money. Unless everyone gives enough money this will never happen, and it should not happen on city property anyway.
