Why do they have to run in the public streets? Let them run around the racetrack in Mineral Wells or through the woods at Mountwood Park. Not everybody wants the streets blocked for this event.

It just goes to show you how "starved" people in the area are for something / anything to do. I think they would attend a cockroach race as long as they served food & drinks.

Phoenix ... depending on your visitors ages, take them to Athens OH for a Saturday. It's full of life, some interesting shops and eateries that PKB cannot come close to. There's lots of art and music to enjoy there as well. The Bobcats play evening games against North Texas on the 7th and Marshall on the 14th! You can have great fun in Athens!!!

What a CF. No place to park (as usual)Yet mant empty lots with "reserved for city employees" on the spaces and many metered spaces with hoods on them saying reserved. Every time I go down there I have to laugh at the ludicrous ideas thrown out by Newall et al about developing down town. We have visitors coming in early Sept. & I cannot even begin to think of something for them to do.

I would consider attending if the event had a local charity of several different local ones benefiting from the proceeds ... but instead all the money goes to the "Parkersburg Homecoming Festival". Bad food and B rate entertainment is just not that exciting. It's a shame that the Half Marathon isn't moved to a stand alone event, a really nice festival could be built around it!
