I see a trip to Cross Lanes, $10,000 on red, let it ride. Sounds like her lawyers didn't think much of the chances for a court hearing and talked her into the small settlement while they got theirs. They probably took it on contingency and opted for the $65,000 vs the 40% of what she got. Lawyers know were their bread is buttered. She should get another lawyer to sue the lawyers for her "Fair Share."

denver, I get it, you support the ACLU. I support all kids getting the best education possible and sometimes that might mean doing things differently. Unfortunetly, the ACLU has the resources to pursue many issues that do not favor the majority.

I'll give it a shot Denver. When new ideas come about they bring them to trial markets, such as new food, clothes, ideas, or whatever. Since WV is slow to catch up to the nations trends I would say they were followed by many in other parts of the country. At first, I was against this pretty wholeheartedly, but I started to change my mind but before we could really find out how people feel about this anjd if it is a better way to learn it was shut down by the greed of some parents and the "way out there" ACLU. Just as I said earlier, it was really all about money for the ACLU and the parent or parents involved. I also had 2 kids going there this past year.

"denver, if you read the article it mentioned single gender classsrooms in Kanawha and Cabell county." Yes it did! But they were suspended after the ACLU sent letters to the school systems demanding the classes cease.

Now I wonder why they did that?

That mother should have spent more time working with her children on homework and less time blaming everyone under the sun for them not learning. Personal responsibility is what they lack. Half a** work gets half a** results.

By the way denver, the case was settled out of court, so in reality the insurer, possibly the taxpayers and maybe many kids at Vandy , although we will probably never know were the losers.

denver, if you read the article it mentioned single gender classsrooms in Kanawha and Cabell county.

Barboursville administrators even reported positive feedback from students and staff and saw decreased disciplinary problems at the middle school.

I am not sure how you get discrimination out of this. Vandy has several at risk kids and test scores have been down in the past, so my point is that if the status quo is not working then maybe a change is needed and time should be given to analyze it.

Heaven forbid that something different should be tried in schools in an attempt to see if it could be a good thing.

Manydems, not sure how you get the discrimination, hate and bigotry out of this, but it made me chuckle as you seem to have a Phd in those areas, so maybe you know it when you see it.

Does no one see the fact that lawyers got like 85% of the settlement. Lawyers and politicians, life would be much better without them!

Here is my thoughts on the matter... What did the students think? I know we all want to hold everyone accountable for the actions they have but did anyone ask these students? I work with a mother of a student at this school and she told us that her child wanted this program to continue because he actually got to learn and had no distractions in these classes. There will always be some who feel something is wrong with anything anyone does! Why then should one person be able to change what everyone else does? I think this parent should have just asked for her children to be removed from these classes and the students should have been asked if they wanted to be removed from this program...

Another gold digger paid! What a joke. Mothers like this need to be taken to a dark room and have a long explanation given to them that says kids go to school to learn, not socialize. There is plenty of time for that in between classes, before and after school and lunch.

This woman will still probably complain because she only received 10 grand. The good news, she is Oprah rich for about a week, or at least she thinks she is.

The only thing she accomplished here was messing up a valid education for the remainder of the kids. What a joke.

Who cares what you say Denver? It's usually liberal and ignorant!

This was just another frivolous law suit by a gold-digging parent who doesn't give a *&^% about their childs education or civil liberties, they just see the dollar signs.
