Bandmom7, The game couldn't be scheduled at Warren on that Friday, cause Warren had another event scheduled for Saturday morning that they had to set up for Friday evening.

Come November 1st, my biggest fear is that we will have a condemned stadium and a condemned football program. How did all of this happen to us?

The difference is between Friday and Saturday night and having to pay to play on a field when maybe we wouldn't have to. We kind of knew the first game would be away, but not that it would be on a different day. Also, would we have to PAY to play at Warren? I don't know, but it is something the public should be aware of if that is the case. Are we paying to play in Marietta just to play on turf? Or would we have to pay to play at Warren also? As for paying for the extra busing this year, who is going to have to fork over the money for that? Not just the first game, but if they have to play all of the "home" games away. I don't know how much money the football team and cheerleaders boosters have, but the band has a really tight budget. The boosters already have to pay for the buses for regular away games and competitions and that is after the small percentage they get from home gate sales is deducted. They get very little money from the school. They have fundraisers to pay the

If they played the game at Warren, Warren would get the "gate", meaning the money from ticket sales. Playing at Marietta College, PHS will get to be the home team and therefore collect the gate. Even paying a fee to MC for allowing them to use the stadium, they stand to make thousands of dollars on ticket sales. No one likes to give up even one week of ticket sales for home games. The money received from ticket sales for football games helps many schools pay for other sports throughout the year.

@Bandmom7...I just don't understand your post. What's the difference between playing at Marietta vs. Warren other than turf vs. grass? They are both away.

Ok, so they are moving the game to Saturday and paying to use Don Drumm Stadium? Are they also going to pay for the buses to get the football team, cheerleaders, band and red wings there? I know the band has a huge fundraiser that weekend. One they do every year. With the additional cost of more bus trips this year if they don't get the stadium ready, they can't afford to miss even one fundraiser. So it looks like parents will be running this fundraiser and missing their kids first performance of the year. Why?? So that they can play on turf????

It was my understanding that if we couldn't play at Stadium Field then the Warren game would be played AT WARREN on Friday night! Why did this change?? Yeah, I know Don Drumm has turf and Warren is dirt but seriously, they play on dirt fields at other games. Unless Warren was going to charge the school more to use their field than Marietta is I really don't get this thinking. Can someone enlighten me?
