Mayor Newell has been in office almost 9 years this should have been caught before this. Seems like our great mayor hasn't been doing his job what else hasn't been done that should have.

"Fatman" this should have been done before Wyndemere was annexed, like Mayor Newell said and Ive been saying all along. Instead it was annexed and left up to the people that wasn't in office at the time to fix, thanks to people like you! Now its part of Parkersburg and left up to Mayor Newell to take care of. And Id say Mayor Newell plan to to approve $34,000 to help bring roads in Wyndemere up to city code, is a good plan. That way the funds will be matched by K2 of West Virginia and Wyndemere Homeowners Association will pay the rest. Before the taxpayers of Parkersburg is stuck paying for all of it. Since its now part of Parkersburg.

How about This? Instead of the one or two of you naysayer that has multiple user names, bashing Mayor Newell about Wyndemere! Why don't you tell us what you would do different then he is? And we'll start with you "Fatman"

P-burg shouldn't have annexed the subdivision with major infrastructure out of code. If tax payer funds go to fix said infrastructure the roads should be thoroughfares (with no gates) for those taxpayers. The city should not accept extortion demands. (Gate stays or we will withdraw from the city.)

Newell was in office when Wyndamere was annexed with substandard infrastructure. Let them keep the gates and fix their own roads or withdraw and keep the gates and fix their own roads OR let them stay, remove the gates and match the cost of bringing the roads up to code.

Who was the County Commissioners in 1999, and why did they give Wyndemere a permit to build roads without them being up to code? Maybe the county has some responsibility for some of the cost to bring the roads up to code.

Maybe Vienna should build a stone wall just outside of "the gates of Wyndemere and rid newell of his concern re providing a shortcut to Vienna. This way Vienna does not have to put up with Wyndemere and they can take their gate and ... (insert your comment here)

With all the articles posted about the streets at Wyndemere, the developers have never been named. I would think that would be an important part of this story. If I owned a home there, I would be looking to the developers to fix the streets, since it was their design flaw that created this mess.

"Privatized" I'd say that's what the "Officials" both County and City did in 1999 (avoid issues)! now wouldn't you? And "hearme2" that would cure one problem, then the street would for sure be a dead end!

"seleah" I'd say if you owned a home in Wyndemere you wouldn't care who fixed the streets, as long as they were fixed!

Denver if I was mayor I would have done this when I first took office . But before I did anything I would tell them gate will come down. If they want out of city let them then they will be responsible for everything. The mayor spends taxpayers money like it grows on trees.we need we blood

You got to laugh at those two because anything that might be considered or even just proposed is because of Newell, while everything that closes down is someone elses problem. This town grew and thrived before Newell and it will after he is gone.

Rather you like it or not Wyndemere is now part of the City of Parkersburg and being part of Parkersburg it's now Parkersburg responsibility to keep the street up! So either we let K2 of West Virginia and the Wyndemere Homeowners pay for most of it or we'll end up paying for all if it!

Which would you rather have?

"Tinfoilhat" Read the article, it states "Willow Lane was dedicated in 2009 after lengthy debates, a LAWSUIT and THOUSANDS of dollars in work on the street. The question is do we let K2 of West Virginia and the Wyndemere Homeowners pay for most of it or will we end up paying for all if it!

Why does it matter if you are a republican or democrat .we just need a mayor who cares about the citizens not his rich friends. Like I said in a little over 3 years we can get some new blood to make parkersburg great.
