W.Va. Sports Hall of Famer Ostrowski dies

Mary Ostrowski, the most decorated female basketball player in the history of Parkersburg, passed away in Abingdon, Va., on Friday at the age of 51, her brother, Eric Ostrowski, reported....

I was older than Mary at PCHS so we didn't have much interaction. But not only was she a FANTASTIC athlete, she was a FINE student and a WONDERFUL human being! She took all of her honors in stride and NEVER let it go to her head. Mary put Parkersburg on the map, and we should all be proud of her accomplishments and that she was indeed a hometown girl.

I had the genuine pleasure to report on her high school basketball successes while at The Parkersburg Sentinel. She was an inspiration to many others.

an absolutely fabulous athlete. I remember her pitching against the boys in the Worthington Little League. Condolences to her family and friends.
