Yeah, janeeyre... because the Harlem Shake and Bad Kid Fort incidents have so much in common with this one. You must have missed out on the single gender classrooms, is that your excuse for your ignorance? Good God...

the parent had every right to opt out of the single gender classes. The only thing the judge said was they need to opt into the classes. This double-speak actually means the same. Your child can e opted out and put back in a co-ed class. With results, grades might suffer since boys and girls were benefitting from the single gender classes. Shame one ignorant family who wants to ruin something good for many students. Ignorance from this parent and the ACLU (not to mention complete ignorance, and incompetence.

This is just one of the multitude of reasons why EVERYONE should have an umbrella policy. They are cheap. We need to protect ourselves against losers who just lay in wait for a chance to sue any institution and any individual. Some of these low lifes live off their ill gotten gains and wait for a chance to increase their take.

It's a shame the law wasn't followed when the single gender scheduling was implemented. More money wasted by not doing so.

Hmm had 3 kids in schools here at one time - I know there were cases where I could have sued - but for what? To bankrupt the whole system for a payday? All law suits do is make lawyers richer, no thanks. Way to go showing your kids how to handle problems - just flop down and refuse to move like a two year old until someone hands you a sack of cash.

Typical response in the US anymore. Screw the masses to satisfy the one. No wonder this country is such a mess.

I'm fully educated, DisturbedAgain. If I wanted my daughter in single gender I said I would put her in a private school. I grew up in the public school system, with BOTH boys and girls in my classes...oh did I ever learn anything? I learned enough to graduate first in my class and to earn scholarships to pay for my maybe keeping things the way they are isn't such a bad idea.

I have a feeling this case is just the beginning! The outcome means it's open season on Wood County Schools. This is going to turn out just like the episode of South Park where****picky law suits bankrupt the school sysstem. I'll bet the bad fort kid's parents and the Harlem Shake "victims" will be next.

This makes everything better huh? Throw some cash at the problem to shut them up and everyone is happy. It's idiots like this family that have society so screwed up. People like this have also allowed the boy in California to use the girls bathroom because he thinks he is a girl. Wrong? You're*****right it is but it's about equality right? NOT!

And Sookie, at least educate yourself on the conversation before commenting. This is not a single gender school, just single gender classrooms. Your daughter shouldn't be paying attention to the boys while in class anyway. This isn't about single gender classes, it's about giving the kids a better opportunity but unfortunately, some parents can't see past their noses to get the big picture.

I, for one, don't really care for the idea of same gender classrooms. I'm not choosing to send my daughter to a private all girls school. I choose to send her to public school, where she has the opportunity to not only socialize with both genders, but compete and learn from both genders. The real world isn't separated by gender, so my feeling is that school shouldn't be either. Then again, the real world doesn't get summers off either...but that's a whole different can of worms.

Studies have shown a drastic improvement in grades in single gender classes. What would be even better is if the classrooms were single gender and all students wore uniforms. I think the family saw their opportunity for some money and rolled with it.
