Joebobacabra I've lived in Indiana,Illinois ,west Virginia.maryland, emergency responders make more money here they also have better benefits and they do a poor job,I've taped to people who has called police for emergency it took 20 minutes to arrive nobody in area is what dispatcher said.there was a fire last year 2 blocks from fire station took 5 min for 1st fire truck to arrive and another 10 min to get gear on.ive seen volunteer fire departments do a better job.

Fatman I've got to respond to you comment. It just so happens that I have also lived in five different places in West Virginia, Ohio and Florida. This area has the best emergency responders of any of those areas and they are probably the worst paid.

One good way to lose weight is to get up and find some way to help make things better instead of sitting on your brains and complaining.

What amazes me about the storm and the power outage is what didn't happen. You didn't have people taking advantage of the disaster by looting and vandalism. I'm not sure who gets the credit, an active law enforcement or maybe the overall quality of the people in our area.
