As someonelse posted, MTTA has some great DT eateries, I would just add Cone n Shake as another great food choice. My understanding is a Denny's is coming out infront of the new hotels. Would also like to see a Steak n Shake up here or a Chipotle's. Although the city needs to do something about the smell from the sewage plant. Plant more trees to absorb the smell.

Here's an idea for you "newworld", if you hate coming over that bridge into such a terrible state such as WV, there's an easy way to solve that problem. Stay home. We have enough out of state plates clogging up the streets as it is now. If Ohio is so great and wonderful and full of thin people, then why are all the new businesses being built on the WV side of the Mid Ohio Valley?

Suncity, you're right but other countries are adopting our lifestyle about as fast as they can. Until something changes the trend, they'll be where we were several years ago. & that's not good for them or us.

Every time I go out to eat, the places are full of really obese people. And they are the ones loading up on the cheese fries, bloomin' onion, etc. They are obese in most part because of life style. We have so much in this nation. Look at foreign nations and you don't see many who are obese.

Five Guys is great! The Huntingon location is always busy. It's a real destination for burger lovers.

I've got to disagree with the poster who doesn't realize that all the good restaurants in Marietta are downtown, not on the strip known as Pike Street. Tampico, Town House, Gun Room, Buckley House, Spagnas, Harmar Tavern, Boathouse, Galley, Austins, Pizza Place, Levee House and so on. Plenty of good restaurants for a small town!

I am laughing so hard because what are you people thinking? These are the same restaurants that people out here would never be caught eating at! People out in WV think Taco Bell is Mexican Food, got news for you .. Not close. There are different coffee shops besides Starbucks and by the way... Their product is really loaded with sugar. How about a gym? I go to 24 hours and it is booming out here

True Wally I didn't say French fries were healthy - but at least they are not frozen lumps of who knows what. I would go there before McD if I wanted that sort of meal. At least there cheese is real and not developed by an engineer - McD cheese is by chemical definition more of a plastic than cheese - its cheaper who cares if it is bad for people - profit rules all.

Go to the malls food court and take a look around. Overweight people are standing in line at the porky pretzel and the piggy pizza place, but no line at the healthier Chick Fil-a. It’s all about choices people make.

BakerKat...The fact that your son-in-law manages a Five Guys wouldn't have any bearing on your opinion would it? How you buy your potatoes doesn't make much difference when you immerse/soak them in hot fat before you serve them, does it?

Sorry Wally while that is true of most restaurants - Five Guys uses fresh food - they buy 50lb bags of potatoes and they make fries from scratch - my son-in-law manages one. Pricy? a bit but fresh and really good if you like burgers and fries. For Marietta residents try The Gun Room - hand cut steaks and real food made from scratch.

What are we trying to do here, grab the "Most Obese City in the U.S.A." title from Huntington? I'd like to see some of the people around here get excited about something other than a couple more places to eat unhealthy food. Check it out on the net and you will see how fattening and unhealthy the food offered by these chain/franchise restaurants really is. The food is prepared weeks in advance and bagged up for micro-waving and consumption thousands of miles away. It is also usually injected with foreign substances that make it taste good and make you want to come back for more. You get hooked/addicted just like taking meth or cocaine. But, if this is what turns you on, grab up the kids and hurry on down to one of these slop troughs as soon as you can.

YEAAA...we get to come from Ohio acrossed a bumpy bridge, smell poop from the poop plant and be greeted by bums with signs just to eat at another place full of fat people. Vienna needs to build their own bridge and Parkersburg would disappear off the map.

@notopinionated: Let me read a story about a business that hires full-time, or even part-time employees with full benefits, paid vacations, and raises, and you won't hear a peep out of me about it.

"Shouldn't the mayor know what is happening in his city?"- It is not HIS city. He was elected to serve the citizens of the city. He'll know when the holding company applies for building permits and the like.

Love 5 Guys, And I agree with the person that said Marietta needs more restaurants. The only non fast food national brands they have is Apple Bee's, Shoney's and Bob Evans. And 2 of the 3 stink. Why did Damon's close several years ago?

Do we REALLY need more resturants? Granted IHOP is great! Five Guys is pricey $20 for two burgers, 2 drinks and a small fry and just not that good for the cost. Wish we could get something to actually do around here besides eat. No wonder there is an obesity problem. Be cool if we could get something like go carts, putt-putt all in one like we use to have behind the mall, or a Target.
