Any other employer would have fired this guy immediately, and it would have stuck. He had not only downloaded ****, but evidence was in the trunk of his cruiser that hadn't been turned in properly. That gives a crook a good chance of never seeing the inside of a jail cell due to evidence mishandling. Why does it seem to be so hard to get rid of a crappy cop, oh yeah, I forgot the FOP. They want to force a screw up back into the PPD.

Just maybe he downloaded to another officer's puter in order to get that officer in trouble instead of his own puter. That could be planting evidence and I could be wrong that he did not plant

According to the article, he downloaded **** to another officer's puter which I fail to see constitutes planting evidence.

As for planting evidence, why do you think he downloaded *********** onto "another officer's" laptop computer? Why not on his own?

I agree BfromWV the problem with downloading **** is it is FULL of viruses. It is a just reason to fire someone - 1st if they are looking at **** - they are not working - last time I checked we paid officers to work not view ****. As for the stealing - everyone in the private sector that does that does get fired. I hope he has to pay back 2 years of salary he DID NOT earn!

@FallenMinty1: You said, "Also, once a thief, always a thief."

Nay, Fallen. Some people DO learn from their mistakes and don't make them again.

It is completely ridiculous that this has went on as long as it has. It is a good thing the Civil Service Commission has mostly new people because they were for lack of a better term blooming idiots. They didn't dispute what he did just said it didn't rise to the level to fire him. Really? My boss would have fired me so fast I wouldn't have known what hit me. I guess that is the difference between working in the private sector and being a civil service employee.

Didn't see anything in fatman's comments that wasn't self explanatory. He wants a new regime!

The only thing I'm saying is that I understand the comment by "Fatman", and I believe it is on a level that the average person may not understand.

Sometimes, if one has endured certain misfortunes caused by another, and at no fault of one's own, it just makes you want to see failure on the part of the entity that you feel has caused the particular problem. It doesn't mean "Fatman" is immoral.

Ongoing for more than two years??? Fire the thief and get him off the payroll. He will get no respect if he's reinstated. Also, once a thief, always a thief.

Seems that a criminal charge should have been filed, if indeed theft occurred. A private citizen would have been. And than a jury could have heard it.

"Hope Holliday wins this will show our mayor he's not god." And you think having a police office that is a thief and plants evidence is good? "OK." That shows what kind of morals you have "Fatman"
