I'm Scott's niece, 48 years old and have known and loved him since childhood. I trust him completely. This really saddens me. I won't, however, stoop so low as to say a word about his children, my cousins who have brought forth these allegations. I think those girls are in a lot of pain and it has plenty to do with divorce and a lot to do with maybe not the best upbringing. A lot of us had imperfect parents. But sexual abuse? No, absolutely not and I'm the last person on earth who would blame a victim or protect an abuser, relative or not.

I know Scott Stewart, I loved his beautiful parents and have a wonderful mother, his sister.

I think my uncle may not have been the best parent but he provided for his kids and did better than most. He's a good man with joy in his heart, a talented guitar player and singer, funny and warm. not a monster. The truth will come out in the end, that's all i know, it always does. I wish peace and healing for all.

This self professed Christian goes against the New Testament of God's Holy Word to file an intimidating lawsuit against his daughter. I believe this is attempt to try and keep the truth from coming out. Why not just take the polygraph test; use one of your own attorney's choosing and publicize the results. That could end this matter that you say has harmed you and your reputation. You haven't offered to do anything but to harass your daughter. Come on and volunteer the truth; if you aren't afraid. Remember the Bible says the truth will set you free! In your case I doubt it; although I feel it will your daughter from your evil grip.

If this is true, and I can't imagine it isn't as most girls would rather die than tell anyone - I pray his new cellmates give him a really big welcome.

OK So people don’t like Cosenza or they don’t like Facebook. This is an issue to be settled in the court by the facts. I do know the father and daughter and will say that it is a very sad case indeed. Regardless of the outcome it is truly a shame that this dispute ever came about in the first place. Here we have what should have been a loving relationship that has obviously been destroyed and all the family has been damaged by something in the past. For a daughter to make an accusation like this there had to have been a lot of pain somewhere along the line, and I do not believe it to be over strict rules or not getting a car or other material things. Again, this is not over lawyers, C8 or Facebook. This relationship can only be healed by a miracle. Even justice will not heal and so called “closure” will only act as a temporary pain killer. I hope all will join me in prayer for this family.

How often has George Cosenza filed lawsuits on defamation? My guess is not many. How often has George been hired to defend one who has been or about to be criminal charged in courts? My guess is very often, might even say that is what George is known for. This is why it appears that this lawsuit was an attempt to discourage Scott's daughter in testifying against him in criminal court and any others he may have done this to from coming forward.

Some of you are assuming this girl is telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

How many of you were there? All of a sudden, there is a post on Facebook about this alleged abuse. You can't trust everything you read on Facebook, people!

And what about innocent until PROVEN guilty for the father? IMO, she is probably a money hungry little wench who is mad at her daddy, and this is a perfect way to get revenge. HOWEVER, that is my opinion, not the courts opinion.

If I ever have to be judged by a jury of my peers, I hope I can get a change of venue.

Columbiablue, your comment shows your complete lack of of respect for a women that was raped by a very sick and disturbed mind. Rightfacts must also be in the same boat as you, for each of your comments are in extreme poor taste being this article is about a girl raped, not C8 and rules. This resembles the Steubenville case and may Stewart reside behind bars soon.

Gee some of these elected officials really do think they can get away with ANYTHING. Gross, and these are the kind of people telling us what to do and how to live? Please!

Really?! A young girl alleges she was sexually assaulted by her father, an elected official, and you want to make c8 comments. Where are the people that have compassion for this young lady and the need for justice?
