Why haven't the Commissioners officially included a visit to HSOP as part of their shelter tours? Simply looking at the contract and the fees/costs to compare seems a bit inadequate...

Yes Mr. Herron does actually do a wonderful job for minimum wage and probably no benefits...the norm in this valley.

Mr Homer, They need the employees to clean, feed and water the animals everyday. It takes a lot of time everyday to clean out all of the cages and runs. Most of them make minimum wage. Steve does an excellent job with the little amount of funds provided by Washington Co. Go out and see for yourself one of these days.

Well comparing 1 place against another is just plain stupid, there are way too many other factors involved. And downplaying volunteers isn't smart. The hours some are putting in is comparable to employment with the place and that doesn't happen overnight.

HSOP is spoiled. overfunded for years. they need to tighten their belt. Some accountability is needed.

Wheres the answers to the real questions......why do they need 11..or 12 employees...what is their per hr. other words what percentage of that 300,000.00 is can't count on donations to cover that...
