if one lives in a rural state and lives in a city with woods one 3 sides, on occassion you will have wild animals in the city. They have a right to live on Gods green earth as well.

I live up from the City Park entrance. Have for about 25+ years. Until a few years ago. In the past 2 years I've seen maybe 25-30 deer roam my neighborhood. 3 Weeks ago as I was turning the corner off of Pearcy & 16th there was a deer eating berries off one of the trees. So, it's not just around the cemetery and the water towers. They are pretty much everywhere.

I have a house across from City Park on 23rd St. In spite of my yard being fenced, the deer come through it at will. I've had as many as six deer lying down in my backyard at once. They are dangerous...not just in rutting season, when the bucks might attack, but also year round when they collide with vehicles. On average, deer collisions cause about 200 HUMAN deaths per year, and about one BILLION in property damage. You can blame deer for a large part of your high car insurance rates. Then, let us not forget LYME disease. Deer are major carriers of the ticks which cause Lyme disease.

Seems to me someone should implement a form of "Parkersburg City Government" control, starting with the mayor and police chief.

OMG! Deer eating shrubbery and berries! When will it all end. Folks stay inside, exit only at your own risk, Bambi might be watching for you.

As for the LION incident it was in the 1980's and was won in a poker game at a local (no longer existent) bar. The lion got loose while the bar owner was passed out. It was easily recaptured put in a carr and later driven around town letting people pet it. (he was actually pretty friendly until the fellows driving him around kept pouring booze down him)

I live close to the park too, and we have possum and skunks. We leave them alone.

If one can afford expensive shrubs, then one can afford to by deer resistant plants.

We are taking their land from them. Where else are they to go? Besides, they are all the Lord's creatures, and "dominion" over them does not mean to kill everything just because we want to.

Life is a gamble. Is it better to be killed in an accident because of mechanical failure than a deer? Your're just as gone, no matter the reason.
