More help is needed for those who served

April 22, 2013

A state-run nursing home for military veterans, opened in Clarksburg, W.Va., in 2007, already cannot meet the demand for services from those who once defended our country but now need hel....

It hasn't been acceptable since Viet Nam but they don't do anything about it. Washington does not care what the little people want - and we want our vets taken care of! Won't even pay for PTSD dogs that really do help these guys. But NO lets give welfare users a raise - (don't get me wrong some are deserving) most who contribute nothing. Its disgusting how our priorities are so upside-down.

I have a biased opinion but if our country is to give benifits to anyone those benifits should without question go to those that have defended this great nation in combat. Pele for whatever reason or another need help at one time or another in there lifetime.

being a 100& disabled thru the VA; we have not received a cost of in creas allowance (c.o.l.a.) since oBama has been president. we receive only cola increase from the white house; because it was election year. we are 4 years behind the 8 ball. W, those on welfare seen increases. whe haven't we seen one? those on social security has not received c.o.l.a. either. last year june store - everything in my home that was plug-in, fried - I had over $200 in my frig that spoiled becaue of the storm. why did those on welfare receive extra food stamps to replace the food that was spoiled due the storm - where was my free food? our c.o.l.a. has not tracked with the cost of living and gas prices. those on welfare are \more important than those that served this country. just remember Obama wanted those in the military to pay for their own insurance; because it is an all volunteer military. it should be required that many one running for president, should have served in the military.

There is only so much money available to help the truly needy. With the cheaters and illegals swamping the system and taking resources from those that truly need them, we need to make sure those that are receiving benefits are actually the ones that qualify for those resources. The state isn't as fortunate as the federal government with the fed being able to print as much money as possible. WV has budgeted what is takes in quite well against what it pays out. If we can afford to help the veterans then we should. Prisons seem to be all over the place, Help for veterans should be there also.

When a war is over and our brave veterans return home, it is our most solemn obligation to keep our promise and ensure they have the services and resources they require to succeed. We should take care of our veterans,if they are in need of assistance HOWEVER, So are so many non military families, their neighbors, their friends, With vital services being cut everywhere and so little available to them. The more that is CUT from the system The less anyone will receive, regardless of what status you are. Till a solution is made, more will get less. Including our children , disabled, handicapped, and our elderly.. Insurances are paying less for their care and the costs are rising. We need to help them ALL, But we do not! How sad it is to see families struggle with mounting cost to take care of their loved ones, no matter the age,Or status. Military or not.
