Wood County needs to increase citizen access to our county parks. Veteran's Park is rarely open to the public. People attempt to use the park on a daily basis almost year-round but the gates are never unlocked. A few weeks ago a group of walkers parked outside the gate and walked in, only to have someone call 911 on them. The same problem applies to Mountwood Park. The best-maintained section of the park, the 'Horse Camp' is locked up tight with usage limited to only a small group. 'Games Hill' was open during the Frisbee Golf tournament a couple of weekends ago but the road has been neglected to the point it is impassable to vehicles. The citizens have paid dearly for these parks and should be entitled to their unrestricted use year round.
