I believe the Wood County Board of Education needs a complete overhaul. They do not do justice to the teachers or the kids.

In Terrell's case: The AFT does not want teachers in a classroom who would harm a child or "hinder" the learning process. CPS found no evidence of abuse. Now just how "muddled" do you think it can get, then to have constant interruptions in a class from a child who cannot control themselves. Not the fault of the child, and the teacher may have made a poor judgement, but the poorest judgement was made from the top, by not having separate classes for these students! Maybe the BOE needs to look up in Webster's, just what the definition of "hinder" means!

The point is mistakes are mistakes. You learn from mistakes, as in most jobs where the employee is reprimanded and allowed to learn from what they did. The Harlem Shake video was a mistake, the kids pushed the limits as teenagers tend to do. He should have not allowed them to participate in such a questionable way...but to lose his job over it...ridiculous! As there are so many haters on this comment board regarding kids being bullied (stop whining about your kids) child is not a behavior problem, and still went through*****via employees still active in this school system. The BOE was well aware of it and did nothing. Any other questions?

Just because there are cases that have slipped through unpunished takeback...does not mean these teachers should be in our schools. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Of course there is always some worse case somewhere. It does not make these teachers any less culpable. Teachers should be someone children can look up to and respect, not people who at worse than the kids. My kid is an honor student that supposed to make some sort of difference?

Mr. Young is a good teacher who made a foolish decision. There are far worse teachers and admins in Wood County, including the Director of Secondary Schools who bullied my child for years, an employee who "grinds" against students at dances, grade fixing, and teachers busted for drug possession... and nothing was done. In most jobs, a reprimand is given in order to learn from mistakes. Thought education was about learning, so should we fire students when they make mistakes? Overkill and inconsistent disciplining on the part of the BOE. And for the haters, my child is an honor student.
