I seen in today's N&S that the "Vienna mayor supports home rule for city" So it looks like Mayor Newell is out front on this too.

Anytime there's a new business coming in, that means somebody's being employed and isn't that the the most important part in developing the future of Parkersburg?

I seen a while back where "Eighty-four new businesses made their way to Parkersburg in 2012 and the number keeps growing."

Now doesn't that sound like they've been successful, and doing the job we elected them to do?

It sounds to me like you all don't like the fact, for one reason or another, that Mayor Newell and some member of City Council are the most successful people we've had in Parkersburg for a long time. Everything they've done has been a success, from Point Park, right on down the line!

If home rule is better for Parkersburg and the people that live here, whats the big deal? Isn't that what we elected Mayor Newell and the City Council to do? Would you rather them set down there and do nothing, like our fine Congressman David Mckinley does?

Unbelievable! Will Newell ever MAN UP and take any responsibility?? I bet when he was a child during recess at school he went running and hiding behind the teacher saying "he did it, he did it". Quit being a wimp. You are looking more pathetic and it makes the City look like it is run by a bunch of children.

Denver, do you think that Newell doesn't talk to the board members out of council chambers and off the record about where they stand on issues before they are discussed publicly??? You don't know much about politics do you? He checks with everyone ahead of time to garner support and see where everyone stands on an issue before it is brought up in open session, I guarantee you. If he has 2 or 3 council members that are easy to lead around on a leash, he will get them to bring up issues in meetings to keep the heat off of him if the issue is a sticky subject. That way he can point to someone else and say it was their idea, if things don't work out well in the end.

"north26103" Newell said the resolution was brought before "council by council." The "resolution was sponsored by eight of the nine council members," the same ones who then voted to approve the resolution.

Yeah its sounds like "he wants this so badly"!! Get real!
