You can replace the city and football team name with a lot of college town names and see it happening all the time. Being good at sports shouldn't allow anyone to be excused from doing right and following the same rules as the rest of us. By allowing that, we encourage it in our youth.

Esther, behavior modification based medications are not capable of solving problems or curing anything. They only dull the symptoms-for the time being. Wheither you believe me or not-although the medication seems to be working for this kid-that will change. As his body grows his dosage will have to be uppede, upped and upped-once he builds up a tolerance to it. I wish you luck-but I know exactly where this is headed.

janeeyre1: I don't know what meds have to do with this story, but since you bring it up....I know a child who was failing almost everything in school, was diagnosed with ADHD, began taking meds, and now brings home papers with As and 100%s on them. Prior to this I was vehemently against these meds. Now I see what they can do.

At least the defendant's didn't try to blame the meds they were taking on their actions. Here's another glowing testimonial on why we should question giving kids behavior-based meds-and the fact that they can have tragic consequences.

Well said. I have only one criticism. You say the victim was "sexually molested." Not so. This young woman was brutally raped repeatedly.
