Phs should have plenty of time to hand out punishments to students and teachers its not like they have fundraising to do you just hand them everything

Sounds like Yeater should resign if he doesnt think it is the boards job to handle personnel matters...the fort teacher should have been fired and now the idiot who allowed this vulgar dance should be fired...thats what is wrong with society today eveyone thinks this kind of behavior is okay...

I totally understand that this teacher did wrong and should be punished but if you search YOUTUBE for PHS Harlem Dance many many videos come up of coach's, sporting events, and other functions there at the school that has aloud this to go on. So if your gonna punish and scream code of conduct you probably should do your homework. PHS is really making a name for that school this year.

I'm not sure who should handle the issue. Personally I kinda see where the board is going with this one. The students need to be dealt with and so does the teacher who approved it. Superstar..there are many who feel like you do that there are many of these videos circulating and that somehow makes it right for a teacher to allegedly tape kids doing some really raunchy things. I'm sure you have heard that if everyone was jumping off a bridge..would you do it?? The point is..not all of these videos are in bad taste. The ones that are should be dealt with accordingly if a teacher or coach allowed or encouraged them to take place. Blennerhassett Middle has one on Youtube too...it is in very good taste and has a pretty good artistic flare to it. A teacher produced it and it's very tasteful.

I also don't feel that all of the students in the video acted inappropriately. Those individuals acted with some sense and in my opinion shouldn't be punished. We all have to do our part to teach our youth about manners and consequence. The kids are no exception to this rule, in my opinion. If the teacher gets punished..so should they.

I know one thing for sure. After hearing Yeater's position on the bad kid fort teacher, the lack of willingness to do something about the video teacher and his blatant disregard for funding any county school need other than PHS football--- he will not be getting vote next time around.

superstar have you seen the video in question? I agree that most Harlem shake videos are good harmless fun. Acts in this video under teacher supervision were not just harmless fun. No one is up in arms about a run of the mill Harlem Shake video. Do YOUR homework.

I would be inclined to agree with "pburg 26101". Our morality and respect are in constant decline and our education system is no exception. Just put them on paid leave and tell them to use discretion in the future ( Yea Right). Seems to be that fun and appreciation are more important than education. I can remember when teachers were well respected members of the local society. I recall one teacher not to many years ago that prided himself on the number of F's he gave out per semester. It is hard to believe that the WV system is good when we rank nationally in the 40's.

Three parties are to blame-the teacher who should have known better-the kids involved who clearly don't know how to properly behave-and the parents who clearly never taught their kids any morals and let them watch too much reality television! I have a solution. Turn PHS into a christian school! Problem solved. I used to live near PHS and got tired of students-including "honor students" who openly used horrible gutter-based language and dressed like pimps and hoochie mamas! Making PHS a christian school is the perfect solution!

The Harlem Shake issue will be handled with kid gloves just like the Marshall Burdette issue was. After all it is PHS we are talking about and we don’t want to drag that name down. If the BOE would give them $700,000.00 extra maybe they could make an educational video

First of all, morality is not just a christian attribute. Sinners can have morals also. Secondly, if a total stranger filmed these children in these situation we would want him hung from the highest tree. The fact that it was a teacher does not make it less scary. This video could be categorized as ****, and that is a felony when involving minors.

A teacher who videotaped or choreographed minors doing simulated sex acts during school should not be suspended?????

One of the current board members participated in some inappropriate incidents from 1972-1974 at PHS as a student and athlete that the coaches didn't know about-The 1972 Little Red Football Team photo has blacked out portions where this board member and other students were making lewd gestures for the camera. Another example, same board member,Basketball season in 1974 as a senior had a special water bottle containing, not water but Vodka along with others. 1972 on page 187 little Red Basketball Team Photo under coach Roy Phillips shows this member making the same lewd gesture. Were Couch Roy Phillips or Coach Bob Dutton ever considered for suspension or terminations for what they were unaware of at the time? How about Buddy James, his athletes left school, went to the Welcome Inn to drank beer until it was time go back for the game. The point here is that kids do things that parents and in this case teachers/coaches aren't aware of and their careers should not be ruined. --PHS '74 #8

Also, those that were interviewed by WTAP who are adults.....if you have something to say why not stand up to it vs. having your face blurred out. If what you say is your true conscience then you should not be afraid to go public. That was simply gutless and cowardly.

pburg26101, Good Lord you are judgmental, I hope nobody ever judges you in this way or you may very well find yourself in quite a pickle. I hope you're not a parent because you could very well be FIRED from parenting if your child does something that you didn't see or know about until after the fact..How about that? You get fired from parenting, are never able to parent again and your child is placed in a foster home because of your poor parenting and allowing your child to misbehave behind your back. KNOW the entire FACTS, the teacher was NOT aware of the inappropriate behavior. His mistake was trusting a few kids that obviously needed better parenting, manners and a sense of morals...back to you as a parent. This teacher would NEVER have allowed or condoned this kind of behavior!
