My only question is what is the $2,000.00 for? All of the participants are volunteers aren't they? Just tell everyone to bring their own shovel and show them where to dig. No county money needed.

Friends, if you have an interest in history, nature, or exercise, the Stiles/Thornhill site is something to check out. Go to Mountwood Park dot org, click on 'recreation' and print a trail map or get one from the park office. Park at the marina and head across the Walter Taitt trail, an easy, graveled trail through one of the nicest areas of the park. You can also drive through the park on Volcano Road, watch for the sign on the right that reads 'Thornhill Site', park there, and climb the steps. The Friends of Mountwood have erected new signage with large descriptive displays showing the layout of Volcano with images of the people and buildings from the oil boom era. All trails in the park have new bridges and signs and the lake has been stocked twice recently. This will be the best season Mountwood has seen in decades, get out there and see what's going on.
