Really the only thing anyone should be saying about this BS is this next election we need to get together get the 4 idiots off the board the vote was 4-0 for the stadium money plain and simple these idiots do NOT belong making decisions for our children plain and simple not to mention it is hard to tell how much of that $700,000 went into a few pockets of the members

The job of the BOE is to TEACH children the basics and then some. How can they learn in leaking (which promotes black mold) stinking classrooms? Sports should come after all the educational buildings are in good order. The stupid roofs have been leaking for over 20 years - what the heck have they been doing all this time? Nothing! Guess they just like going to meetings because it sure doesn't LOOK like they have done anything. FIX THE ROOFS! Let the team raise money like south did. Anytime a child 'earns' something it is a much better lesson than having it handed to them.

I'd like to know where this "baseball field" that the high school teams are going to share is located. At the Parkersburg City Park? Yeah, right. I have worked on fundraising the last six years to help improve the baseball field that the South players use. I don't believe they have gotten any financial assistance from the Wood Co. (BIG RED) BOE. We Southsiders will continue to work hard and raise money so that our kids have a decent place to play sports. We sure won't be waiting on any hand-outs from you. But don't think you're going to waltz in and take over what WE have built. Good luck come election time, present board members, unless you show some equity in doling out the cash.

"Jim Fox noted the board approved funds to reopen the only condemned facility in the county."

Should read: "Jim Fox noted the board approved funds to reopen the only facility my son will play at in the county."

It would seem irresponsible not to plan for facility needs on a long-term basis, but it is apparent that Wood County Schools continues to go from one crisis to the next regarding its facilities.

Proper stewardship must dictate that current management has an action plan for replacing roofs, replacing the WES building and all the athletic facility needs mentioned. Those are all long term capital improvements that should have been anticipated and addressed. It is also proper fiscal stewardship to recommend a long-term Bond Issue to fund those types of investments. Interest rates on Municipal Bonds are at historic lows; it would be highly beneficial for the school system to bond our long-term needs now. A bond issue that addressed county-wide educational facilities and athletic facilities should have a chance at voter approval. Then we could be done with the current continuous “band-aid” drill.

There never was any doubt that phs would get the money. For anyone to think other wise was just plain stupid. The Wood BOE should change its name to the phs BOE that would be more fitting. Things in this county will never change as long as the BOE members livr in the great city of parkersburg.

Where have you people been? The concept of putting the wants of school sports departments before the needs of nonathletic students who need a warm, safe and productive place to learn is not a new concept. If you're not happy with this mentality do something to change it-don't just ***** about it. The problem with the school systems in WV in that they are*******with too many blood relations. This system needs some new ideas and new blood.

Time to vote some new people into our BOE and break the stranglehold of the current members in power

maybe you need to look at why students are leaving our schools en masse...poor academic accountability, disgruntled teachers and parents, classroom and coaching bullying, shall I go on? The BOE has now alienated an entire section of the city and wants a levy? Ha!

After giving PHS $700,000 they want to tighten? "We may have to prioritize our facilities. We may have to share some facilities in this county again, be it baseball field, track or soccer." TRANSLATION: We will give PHS what it wants--remember Erickson wanted to work on it's Track??? All this means is we will give PHS money but now South can use PHS's track. Well, why couldn't PHS have used other facilities for a year or 2? Give PHS the money. Fine. But other county sports facilities should be helped as well. People are upset because the lopsided decisions are obvious. They will only fund PHS stadium...anyone else an come use it if they need to. Cannot wait until board members are up for re-election. Especially a certain board member who if I am not mistaken has a son who plays PHS football.

"Half a stadium for $700,000 is a good investment"

should come with an asterisk: *for a temporary bandage-like fix because our planning and maintenance skills are so darn good

then you can tell the people how good that investment is.
