Nothing beats showing a little initiative in meeting your own recreational needs. Wow! This couple gets the prize! I hope this doesn't give the Salvation Army a black eye--they do so much that is good.

This is another fine of example of the old phrase "You can't fix stupid". It is appalling that either one of them would take advantage of the generosity of so many. This man should be sentenced to hard labor for not only operating a drug lab but for sending his son away after using him to get in the place. Anyone can be called a father but it takes someone special to be called Dad.

And what in the world was she thinking? Why move into a free apartment with a bum who can't hold a job and is into drugs who gives his kid away. That's trying to find success in life, NOT.

Good job to the task force for another successful bust.

These are the results when society ENABLES alcoholics and Drug addicts. They don't need handouts and charity, they will only abuse this. Please don't anyone cry "They aren't bad people who need to be in jail. They are sick people with a disease called Alcoholism and Drug Addiction. They don't need to be in jail they need to go to the Fellowship Home or the Amity Center where they can get hubs, support and compassion." BOO HOO! These people need to go to prison, gets jobs, stop having kids and stop abusing themselves, others and the system.

It is a shame because this will put those people truly in need of help and who are willing to help themselves & follow rules in a bad light. Doesn't the making of meth do permanent "damage" to a structure? Making future residents sick etc? I hope everyone remembers that this couple is not ALL people who need a hand up. But to take advantage of the opportunity given to them in a time of need is just disgusting. I hope they throw the book at them. I feel bad for all the people trying hard and making the most of the opportunity house. I hope people won't paint them all with one brush because of the actions of 1 or 2. The fact that there is a child involved is just sad.

First and most important is that this is not methamphetamine. Real Methamphetamine has not been seen in the Parkersburg area in over 5 years. This stuff is what the authorities allow in Parkersburg since they know every and anyone that purchases a box of cold medication. It's controlled unlike real methamphetamine that say comes from out of state (uncontrolled). Between the sale of ephedrine and officers threatening people to snitch there isn't really much work for them to do. A shake and bake cook is not a meth lab simply because if the chemical structure even has the same molecular make up as methamphetamine it is "L" methamphetamine which is much weaker than the "D" methamphetamine.

Wow defending a meth prodution that is low. Meth is not only deadly to those who use it but those exposed to the production. Then to think of the innocent people exposed and now homeless. I just cant believe how low some will go.

i am struggling with the ones that want to be specific on what kind of drug it was and who was wrong in calling it meth. i find that irrelivent.drugs are drugs and since i work in this field i see first hand the damage and distruction addiction does. Also having been raised in a fmaliy closely involved with a Salvation Army and i my self having voluntered many hours there i understand the purpose of the Oppertunity house and i have seen lives and families changed and saved bc of this wonderful "oppertunity" at a frest start. Salvation Army is strict on the no drug policy and they take many measures to inforce it.i feel sorry for the ones that say they are enabling this behavior by handouts and i hope that u all can re-evaluate a time in your life that u needed help or u struggled with something and how u felt and remember Jesus didnt die on the cross to save the perfect HE died on the cross to save sinners and im pretty sure this includes u sad judgement ppl too.

wow crooked... you sure do seem to know a lot about meth and the different types.. that is absolutely disgusting that someone would basically "stick up" for these low lifes who produce/use meth, whether it is just for personal use or if they are selling it. meth is meth. period.

Forgiven I want to say you aren't completely wrong but drugs are not just drugs as a whole. Alcohol, caffine, and other legal substances are drugs but not as dangerous as meth in any way. Also I am a strong proponet of cannabis eventhough it is a schedule one drug the use of it has not ran people out of a home or landlords to lose their property to demolishion. No one has ever died from its mere use either. Please understand I am not trying to be rude but until we as a nation rethink drug policy. There will be no way to move forward and protect the public from real dangers.

Sounds like Crooked knows a little too much about 'production'. Regardless whether its 'hard' meth or soft 'meth' - they are both made out of pure poison.

@crookedPNTF: Sounds to me like you may be pi**ed at drug inforcement. This is not the first REAL meth bust in town and won't be the last.

I do not believe the authorities "allow" certain drugs to come into the area, ergo, I think you know not of what you speak.

My goodness!! Am I to assume the people that did not agree with my statement are presently or in the past hooked on drugs? Let me guess, you were the kids the "PUSHERMAN" approached on the school yard at a very young age. You know the man that's out to get children hooked on drugs. The invisible man that is. Because what idiot would think they could get rich off approaching 10 year old children that have not income other than from parents? How would that work? Mom I need 250.00 for an 8 ball? If you haven't been there you don't know and what would that make you for commenting on something you have no first hand knowledge??? Think about it :)

I am NOT standing up for them but obviously people dont know what happened to his son, Travis didnt "send" his son away his mom came and picked him up from out of states bc it was her turn for partcial custody. And no he is not 19 he is 35. And there is more then just one child suffering from this there is two families with children that are suffering bc of the decision that these two made. They will pay for what they did and so will the rest of the people involved.

Caffine is an adictive substance and is actually classified as a drug. All be it isn't the most powerful drug nor illegal it is a drug. People use caffine to stay awake (like many other uppers) Also because it is classified as a drug is why the FDA required it to be removed from the legal Alcoholic. beverages because alcohol is a depressant (downer ) and caffine is a stimulant (speed or upper) the drinks were having a speedball type reaction on the user. I am not trying to be rude just explain that caffine is a drug (stimulant) also that it has deadly side effects. Look up Monster Energy drink deaths. There is nothing but heavy caffine in those that has caused overdose. If I remember correctly I also believe JOLT COLA was removed from the market for a few years due to death related incidents involving the drink and its double the caffine of any. other soft drink.
