Well.......at least the Board was fair. They hired a poor coach that brought down the football powerhouse at PHS then they turned around and hired a poor coach that brought down the wrestling powerhouse at South. Wonder what they have planned for Williamstown?

Jcb your correct Dan wasnt the person for the job. The job was supposed to be Gary Porter's. I understand Gary isnt a teacher but he CLEARLY was the right person for the job. It is a shame that someone can apply and get a head coaching position when you have ZERO experience in coaching. I again say this isn't and will never be just a cookie cutter coaching job. They were the 4 time defending champs.

South did not have that good a team this year, ask some of the parents. It wasn't about TEAM, this year at South. At the event in OHIO this year they all left, except the 1 kid,(Lance Hill), who won it, the partents, Dixon, and Porter. Lance Hill was the lone bright spot on the team this year. Oh by the way, Huntington High recruited most of their team, just to beat South. Let's see how they do in the long run. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE BOYS FROM WOOD COUNTY!!!!!!!!!!

It shouldn't have taken anytime what so ever to "get used to the group", "how the group works", and to "set your pace and legacy" as you say. The foundation had been laid along time ago as you already know of the "legacy" that is Parkersburg South Wrestling.

It's just her being a new coach. I'm sorry to burst bubbles here, but it happens all the time when you get a new coach. You have to get used to the group, how the group works, and set your pace and your legacy.
Give Dixon some time with the program. I know it hurts that South isn't #1 this time, but give her some time to grow into this position. If the team can't function after a little while, then talk about replacing.

I do understand P.S.H.S. had some injury and some illness set backs but after seeing a state champion team caliber team have to go through what they had to I believe and I use this word very loosely "Coach" Dixon should resign and it should be given to whom the job should have been months ago. It isn't a secret to anyone that she had NO qualifications for this job (except being a teacher). This job is a very hi profile job and it shouldn't be taken lightly. We were the 4 time defending state champs and I honestly believe had the correct decision been made we would be celebrating 5 today.
