Rusting aluminum?!! hahaha

Of course, nothing less than Carrara marble will do.

An aluminum set of bleachers would be dumb...they rust like crazy and they take away the character. As far as the front campus, it'll be a cold day in*****before they put "parking lots" there, it used to be you could get into trouble for even walking on the grass. @mauser, why are you still arguing? Your points are illogical, if you lived there before 1923 I would gladly listen, besides the vandalism has nothing to do with the school. Vandalism is a legal issue and involves the law and police

mauser, quit complaining, join the crowd or sell your house and move. that stadium has been there long before you. If the kids or people are destroying property like you say they should be arrested for it. Stop being a sour puss.

PHS is drawing less than 2500 per game; just put up some belachers on one side and move on.

first off i am a man, second, i am pointing out the behavior of the people attending the games. honestly, visit the area when the football games are going on. see how many people disrespect the people who live in the area. every game we have vandalism, theft, damage from the cars. then there is the noise. even if you turn on the tv or a radio to drown out the sound of the game, you cannot drown out the sound of the idiot kids in their cars carrying on and playing loud music. the school has all that empty land in front of it, yet they do nothing about the lack of parking for the games and leave it up to us to deal with their visitors.

10 years ago it was an annoyance, but lately it has gotten bad, really bad. basically, tear down the stadium, or keep your visitors on your property PHS, we are tired of dealing with them.

@geezer Actually its freedom of speech and did I ever state that @mauser did not have the right to complain? All i said was that her complaint was illogical based on her knowledge prior to moving to her current residence given the information of her surroundings as they considered the real estate at which they now live

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution gives him the right to complain.

@mauser... your complaint is completely illogical, the stadium was built in 1923 and I'd bet my bottom dollar you weren't living at your residence at the time. That being said, you moved to your residence knowing there was a high school stadium just a very short distance away. What gives you the right to complain? I live at least two miles away from PHS and i can see the stadium lights and hear the band play. Have a sense of pride in where you live because not many communities have a great rivalry like we do between our two major high schools.

Swisher Stadium - I mean that's what you all are hoping for, right? ----------------------------------- I honestly don't see that ever happening. Like I said in the other article comments; He hasn't agreed with to many football things since 2001. I don't care where the money comes from as long as its not from tax money. Playing at South would be okay, but that surface can't handle another 40 to 60 events. I still think it will be Marietta or 10 away games in 2013.

Geezer"The photos accompanying this article show deterioration that has progressing for years. Why did school administrators and county maintenance personnel wait until the stadium was condemned before discussing any plans for repair?" Because they wanted it to deteriorate to this point so they can put it in the news and get public support to take funds from all schools to fix stadium field by saying it's an emergency. Unlike South who got tired of waiting for the board to do anything and went out and raised money and business help to build their own stadium while still being ignored by the board. let them play at Ericson. Karma isn't that nice is it?

I will continue to bring this up (possibly even as a letter) until it is listened to and enacted. Every single article like this needs to have the concept of a local or state-chartered Bank of Parkersburg brought up. Such a bank can and should use the powers of fractional reserve lending for the good of the people, like the state-chartered Bank of North Dakota already does. It can develop a low or 0% interest loan to get things done. Then all that has to happen is the loan gets repaid to the Bank of Parkersburg.

Erickson field could have had a loan to create it. Stadium Field could have a loan to fix it. There are many, many other items that can be handled through a state or locally-chartered bank, but this should be brought up every single time an article like this happens.

just been following this story loosely, but it seems like absolutely nobody is taking accountability in this situation.

the short-term fix is nothing short of irresponsible spending - it makes no sense other than getting the football team back in action for five whole years (OMG, what a long time for only 900,000!).

is it not true that these short-term fixes coupled with downright neglect is why they are in this situation in the first place?

come on wood county school system/phs athletics/whomever - get it together and at a minimum, some accountability is expected.

cheers.

Oh yea, the "bad kid fort" here's an idea, make a "bad teacher fort" and make the teacher stand in it for as long as the kid did, would that make people happy?

JCB1964, yes on the repair comment, the stadium should be fixed. Its part of history, it's part of what PHS stands for. Don't like the flood lights, close your blinds, the noise, get some ear plugs, your car, park it in your back yard, the screaming and sounds PEOPLE HAVING FUN!

instead of fixing the stadium maybe we should be focussing on fixing the education system in Wood County? Just Saying....

This sounds like a distraction ploy to take the attention away from the Bad Kid Fort fiasco and it's impending financial repurcussions.

Just demolish the concrete and put in aluminum bleachers. Certainly the big donors can afford to do that,

Tear it down and let them play at Erickson...theyre not any better than south side who had to play on stadium field for years before getting thier own...let them rebuild it with donations like south had to do...
