Years ago, the city of Parkersburg required bicyclists to obtain an actual bicycle license tag. We probably haven't issued one for over 60 years but I would bet the ordinance is still on the books.

Henry a cyclist isn't traveling the speed of a car. you know I have been thinking a lot about this. I heard when I was a child that the government was wanting insurance and license on bikes. I thought it was a horrible idea then. Now that I am older and wiser I see it that maybe not such a bad idea. We have these Zealots who pay nothing want to have their own lanes pay no attention to road safety. So if they would hit someone be it in a car Or a pedestrian they should have a way to pay for the bill not leave it up to the person with damaged property. HERE YOU GO BOB A NEW TAX CURTSEY OF ME. MAKE CYCLIST INSURANCE MANDATORY IN THE CITY OF PARKERSBURG FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS.

Newell "I'm thinking about the family of four who want to ride their bikes from the Blennerhassett Hotel," he said. "I'm not going to force them to ride in the street." And I'm thinking of the family of four walking on the sidewalk and the child steps into the path of a bicyclist and gets hit. The city administration and council need to get it together and get things done in this city instead of acting like this is Washington and allowing gridlock to prevail. buckle down and do you job.

Too bad that a historical district gets a lane for bikes before restoring curbs, and corner curbs for wheelchairs. I drive up Juliana St. several times a day, and yet to see one bike. But I sure do notice the broken curbs and cracked up sidewalks. I guess thats the historical look.

HEY MOTHMAN HAVE YOUR ATTORNEY SECURE A COURT ORDER FOR THE IP ADDRESS AND E-MAIL FOR ALL THE USER-NAMES CONNECTED TO THE LOCAL SHILL. SINCE HE HAS INSIDE INFO THAT COMES OUT BEFORE AND CLAIMS TO KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT YOUR CASE AND ALLEGED THREATS YOU MADE HE HAS MADE HIMSELF A MATERIAL WITNESS. BY HIS OWN ADMISSION HE CLAIMS TO BE PRESENT AT FUNCTIONS WITH BOB AND KNOW ALL ABOUT IT HE MUST BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE PROCEEDINGS. THIS WAY HE CAN BE SUBPENAED AND YOU HAVE THE CORRECT PERSON.

Hey everyone, I got some advice for you, just ignore Kitty, he doesn't have anything intelligent to add to the conversation. I know it is tempting to try to get him to shut up but eventually he will go away when he doesn't get a rise from somebody!

I can not speak of what is happening here in CA. We do have a bike lane but these spandex wearing wannabe Lying Lance Armstrong will ride in groups, they take up the entire both bike lane and part of the road. It is no surprise that at least one bike rider I ran over. The root cause? The bikers do not follow the rules like the car drivers do. The bikers run red lights, stop signs and even go faster then cars at times. Hope Parkersburg does not give in to these law breaking bikers.

At the rate gas is going, this point will be moot, since we'll ALL be on bikes and horses and be able to grow African Violets on the centerline.

It is pretty crazy to think the city will shut down one lane of a 3 lane "state" highway to allow bicycle to ride on. I think the city has done a great job in try to be biker friendly.

21 Bottles obviously you are a cyclist. Get over it the roads have been shared for years you don't need special treatment or a special lane.

Mothman. he will call the judge corrupt. also make the same statements he made about the judge in the Sawyer / Asbury case. Funny thing is he backed Jim up until Jim filed a case against his superior Sandy. Se he flip flops as soon as the supervisor is in the cross hairs. But there is your answer on your question.

You've completely ruined this forum. It's not credible. People can't discuss anything here without YOU turning it into a three ring circus.....and I think the issue is really about the PN&S how this looks to a wider audience. I was serious, time for an all out brainstorm down there to throttle you down once and for all....****e on Webmaster ???

Off topic question:Does anyone know if the city is ever going to install bench seating at point park? Seems silly to me how they opened the place up and there are no benches there like there used to be.

Sounds like a lot of curb hopping to me, the main reason I wouldn't want to ride on sidewalks. Besides, most sidewalks are more like a funhouse feature than walkways. Think I would just stay off Juliana St.

Slingblade, there is nothing "entertainment" about some mental loser who is the worst possible example and representation of this area. I think it might actually be bad enough to have him committed as a public nuisance and detriment to the areas reputation.
