Thumbs Up to Jim Smith and this newspaper for standing up to the Wood County Commission and it's willful disregard of our state's Open Meetings law. Thumbs Down to the Commission for immediately running to the Ethics Commission to see just how little information they have to provide to the citizens instead of merely complying with the law.

Thumbs Down, To the Editorials in this paper for always trying to use this paper as a platform to promote Right Wing idiocy and hate!! Like the Editorial in yesterdays paper "Coalfields Expressway" Saying, "If it involves coal in any way, it must be bad," They {MIKE MYER} called it a planned highway, running from Raleigh County, W.Va., to Wise County, Va.. when in reality all it's a taxpayer financed strip mine that is likely to be exempt from all of the permitting requirements and other protections provided for communities and the environment by the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Action. And the only one to profit from it, is people like Don Blankenship, and the coal company's "King Coal." its called "King Coal's Road to Nowhere," by the Local residents!

Thumbs down: to Joe Manchin who is cozying up to Obama to take away gun rights to law abiding gun owners while knowing criminals will still get guns regardless of any law.

Some criminals will always get guns, but if we take some reasonable measures, far fewer criminals will get the guns of their choice. That includes measures against straw purchases.

neocurmudgeon74, do you really believe "far fewer criminals will get the guns of their choice"? WOW! If they can't buy what they want, they will STEAL them. Does your neck hurt very much when you put your head in the sand?
